Qualifications

Overview

Under the daily supervision of the Department Administrator, and Clinical Supervision of a Psychiatrist, this role functions as an Advanced Practice Provider within EVMS Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. This role will enable the Department Psychiatrists to expand their capacity to perform comprehensive new patient evaluations, and to provide patient care for patients that have established and determined diagnosis. This Advanced Practice Provider will also play a pivotal role in the Department's Next Day Clinic (NDAC).

Responsibilities
  • Evaluates New Patients.
  • Develop treatment plans for established patients and our revisions in accordance with applicable protocols, standards of care and under the clinical supervision of assigned psychiatrists.
  • Prescribes medications under the practice agreement.
  • Elicits and records a comprehensive and accurate past medical and social history and review of Systems for patients within EPIC.
  • Maintains effective communication with Chairman, Department Administrator, and providers regarding individuals. patient care and develop a coordinated care plan.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA and manages matters professionally with sensitivity to racial, ethnic, and sexual orientation issues.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master’s in physician assistant or Nurse Practitioner. Must be a licensed PA by the Virginia Board of Medicine and a certified physician assistant by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Or A licensed RN by the Virginia Board of Nursing and a certified licensed Nurse Practitioner.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least three years of experience in Behavioral Health.
