Job Summary:

The Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine is seeking an energetic individual for a full-time Advanced Practice Provider position within the Interventional Pulmonology program in the Center for Lungs and Breathing at the University of Colorado Hospital. This position will hold the title of Instructor of Medicine within the Pulmonary and Critical Care Division at the University of Colorado. The Division oversees a regionally and internationally recognized referral center for the care of patients with complex pulmonary disease, thoracic malignancy, and advanced airway and pleural disorders. The responsibilities of this position include the evaluation, procedural coordination, and longitudinal management of patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic interventional pulmonary procedures. The provider will work closely with Interventional Pulmonology physicians and multidisciplinary partners to care for patients in the lung nodule and thoracic oncology programs, as well as those with airway and pleural disease. Clinical responsibilities include pre-procedural evaluation, peri-procedural management, and post-procedural follow-up for patients undergoing procedures such as bronchoscopy (including robotic bronchoscopy and EBUS) and pleural interventions. The provider will play a key role in the development and delivery of an outpatient pleural disease program, including the performance of ultrasound-guided thoracentesis and coordination of pleural disease care pathways. The provider will participate in multidisciplinary conferences, including lung nodule conferences and thoracic oncology tumor boards, and will assist in the collection, synthesis, and presentation of clinical data within these forums.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive clinical care for patients within the Interventional Pulmonology program, functioning both autonomously and in collaboration with IP attending physicians.
• Evaluate, assess, and manage patients with pulmonary conditions relevant to IP, including lung nodules, suspected or confirmed thoracic malignancy, airway disease, and pleural disease.
• Coordinate and manage longitudinal care for patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic IP procedures (e.g., bronchoscopy, robotic bronchoscopy, EBUS, pleural procedures), including pre-procedural evaluation, peri-procedural optimization, and post-procedural follow-up.
• Perform and manage outpatient pleural procedures, including thoracentesis, as part of a comprehensive pleural disease program. Responsibilities include patient selection, procedural planning, ultrasound-guided intervention, coordination of pleural fluid analysis, and post-procedural care.
• Support the development and growth of an outpatient pleural program, including workflow design, patient triage, and integration with inpatient and procedural services.
• Participate actively in multidisciplinary conferences (e.g., lung nodule conference, thoracic oncology tumor board), including case identification, data aggregation, and presentation.
• Facilitate efficient diagnostic pathways with a focus on minimizing time from referral or nodule detection to diagnostic procedure and treatment initiation.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a master's degree in Advanced Practice Nursing or a graduate of an accredited program in Physician Assistant Studies.
• Current active license to practice in the state of Colorado as an Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant. Prescriptive authority is required.
• Currently credentialed as an APRN or PA by the appropriate national certifying body

Preferred Qualifications:

• Pulmonary Medicine experience is preferred, however experience in an Internal Medicine discipline will be considered. Excellent communication skills to interact with multiple medical providers, the interprofessional care team and a variety of medicine disciplines.
• Ability to function autonomously within the scope of practice of a

APP in pulmonary medicine.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$95,000 - $150,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
