About This Role
The Accounting Manager will lead critical accounting and financial reporting functions, ensuring accurate close processes, regulatory compliance, SOX readiness, and continuous improvement across the finance organization.This role calls for a technically strong accounting leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes ownership of complex issues, and proactively drives process improvements with minimal oversight.
This requires 3 days onsite in the Bay area.
What You Will Work On
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting and audit readiness.
- Oversee core accounting functions, including general ledger, reconciliations, treasury, fixed assets, intercompany transactions, equity accounting, and SEC reporting support.
- Drive SOX compliance, internal controls, risk management, and accounting policy development.
- Partner with auditors, consultants, and business stakeholders to strengthen compliance and operational effectiveness.
- Support systems implementations, process automation, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance scalability and efficiency.
- Serve as a trusted resource on accounting procedures, controls, and best practices across the organization.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, consolidations, and public company accounting environments.
- Experience with SOX compliance, internal controls, audit support, and process improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and drive initiatives to completion.
- Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience with accounting and finance systems; exposure to NetSuite, QuickBooks, Bill.com, Gusto, Expensify, or similar platforms preferred.
- CPA, SEC reporting, internal audit/SOX testing, and experience within biotech, medtech, life sciences, or other regulated industries are a plus.
