Full Job Description
Overview

The Accounting Manager will lead day-to-day accounting operations including functional responsibility over general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. This role will help to ensure that R&P Technologies has the procedures in place to support accurate and effective monthly and year-end financial statements as well as executive decision making. The Accounting Manager will collaborate closely with other departments to provide financial insights to support organizational goals and decision-making.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

· Core Accounting Leadership

o Oversee all accounts and subsidiary ledgers and manage daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, and the GL ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and DCAA regulatory requirements.

o Lead the monthly and annual close process including preparation of financial statements and management reports.

o Prepare and review journal entries, variance analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations and resolving discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting.

o Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure consistent coding and classification throughout the company.

o Partner with department leaders to ensure financial accuracy and operational alignment

o Analyze financial data for budget variances and provide insight to management on what is driving large variances.

 

· Payroll Oversight

o Supervise the payroll function ensuring accurate, complaint, and timely processing for all employees

o Review payroll registers, tax filings, and adjustments prior to submission

o Maintain segregation of duties between HR and Payroll

o Coordinate with HR on onboarding, terminations, leave programs, and benefits changes that impact payroll.

o Oversee payroll reconciliations, including taxes, garnishments, and benefit carrier invoices.

 

· Internal Controls and Compliance

o Work with leadership in the development, implementation, and monitoring of financial and operational controls.

o Maintain and strengthen existing internal controls across accounting and payroll processes.

o Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal/state/local tax regulations, and company policies.

o Develop and maintain SOP’s for accounting and payroll functions.

 

· Other responsibilities:

o Development of accounting/finance policies and procedures

o Support the preparation of indirect rate models, incurred cost submissions, and other government-mandated reporting requirements.

o Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and ensure compliance

o Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits.

o Special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.

· At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in the government contracting industry.

· Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and DCAA compliance requirements.

· Experience managing government contracts, including FFP, CPFF, and T&M structures

· Experience with indirect rate modeling, incurred cost submissions, and other FAR-related reporting.

· Familiarity with ERP systems, Unanet preferred by not required.

· Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and data visualization tools.

· Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.

· Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
