Summary

This position will be responsible for managing all accounting operations and financial reporting activities of the company. This role ensures the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the company's financial records, maintains strong internal controls, oversees the close process, and ensures compliance with GAAP, and regulatory requirements. The Accounting Manager serves as a critical role to the company's technical accounting authority within the greater finance organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Financial Reporting and Close:

  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
  • Support preparation of consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Ensure proper revenue recognition, job cost accounting, and WIP reporting in accordance with GAAP and internal company policies.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and documentation.


Accounting Operations:

  • Manage day-to-day accounting functions including general ledger management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets.
  • Manage cash flow reporting and weekly cash position summaries.
  • Partner with adjacent functions within the Payroll, Project Accounting, and FP&A departments.
  • Maintain the integrity of financial systems, chart of accounts, and accounting master data.
  • Drive standardization, automation, and continuous improvement of accounting processes.
  • Provide key information to the Financial Planning and Analysis department to support the development of annual budgets and the performance thereafter.


Compliance, Internal Controls, and Audits:

  • Manage the design, implementation, maintenance, and adherence of the internal control environment governing financial statements.
  • Coordinate annual audits, tax reporting schedules, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Manage compliance with GAAP, contract requirements, bonding, and lender reporting.


Team Leadership and Development:

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing accounting team.
  • Establish clear roles, performance expectations, and professional development plans using the #GOALs and performance evaluation frameworks.
  • Promote team engagement by creating a departmental culture of accountability, accuracy, and service to the business.
  • Ability to lead and work with others cooperatively; recognize and reward people for their achievements; and provides constructive and timely coaching, performance assessment and feedback.
  • Responsible for the growth and development of direct reports. Providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance.


Systems and Process Improvement:

  • Manage the identification and implementation workflows for high-volume functions (e.g., AP, AR, and month-end close) to increase departmental efficiency and accuracy.
  • Define data governance protocols to ensure the accuracy and security of financial datasets used for both AI-driven and traditional reporting mechanisms.
  • Manage the collection, review, and after actions related to key software partner SOC-1 audit reports.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7+ years' experience in finance and/or accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • 3+ years' experience leading an accounting/finance team
  • Financial expertise within the Construction or Industrial Trades industries
  • Proven ability to think strategically with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office 365 - Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency and meet challenging work goals
  • Ability to maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Ability to possess and maintain exceptional work ethic as well as uphold company values and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Master's degree
  • Experience with/working knowledge of Viewpoint Vista, Concur, GCPay, and Prophix software programs

Salary Range: $100,000 to $125,000 annually, plus auto allowance and discretionary incentive program.

While the range listed represents the anticipated hiring range for this position, offers at the upper end of the range are uncommon. Pay is based on many factors including but not limited to education, skill, experience, training, certifications, and other business needs.
