Job Description:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the overall accounting function and financial reporting for the Business Unit (BU). This position is responsible for the accuracy, timeline, and general integrity of the month-end close process. In addition, this position will partner with the Controller to contribute to the strategic direction of the business, drive efficiencies within the accounting department, implement streamlined processes, assist with Annual Planning, and analyze key business metrics that drive management decisions.

Essential Job Functions:

This position is a key function within the accounting team. The Accounting Manager will work with the Controller to ensure accuracy of financial records and integrity of data shared with management, supervise the top 13 internal controls and compliance to ITW's policies and procedures and applicable laws.
  • Effectively manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing process.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording, analysis, and reporting of financial transactions in compliance with applicable accounting guidelines.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide meaningful insights to management for strategic decision-making.
  • Apply 80/20 thinking to reduce complexity and simplify processes within the BU.
  • Leverage available tools and technologies to analyze data to support process improvements and operational decisions.
  • Lead and develop the accounting team by providing guidance, training, and feedback.
  • Prepare accurate management reporting and communicate the results effectively.
  • Assist employees in understanding how decisions impact financials, identify and communicate key business drivers, and provide training to enhance overall financial awareness.
  • Participate in cross-functional Toolbox projects within and outside the BU.
  • Partner with the Controller in planning, assigning, and directing work in the department.
  • Perform related work as assigned.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field along with a minimum of five years of broad accounting experience. CPA or equivalent designation is preferred.
  • Possesses a curious mind, a strong desire to continuously learn about business processes and their impact on financials.
  • Demonstrates a keen sense of prioritization aligned with business objectives, exhibits high motivation, personal accountability, and coaching abilities.
  • Possesses a continuous improvement mentality.
  • Actively seeks improvement opportunities, prioritizes and collaborates to solve vs. completing assigned tasks.
  • Strong track record of driving financial improvements to support business operations.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Aggressive self-starter with the ability to work independently on projects with little direction.
  • Communicates effectively with customers, suppliers, and all employees.
  • ERP and Financial Reporting software experience required.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Minimal travel as needed.


Compensation Information:

The annual base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $115,000 annually. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
