Full Job Description
The Account Executive (AE) retains and grows PartnerRe's in-force Employer Stop Loss (ESL) business through proactive account management, renewal execution, and an exceptional producer and customer experience. The AE is the primary day-to-day service contact for assigned producers and accounts, owns renewal execution and retention accountability, and partners with the Regional Sales Managers who originate new business.
By owning the in-force book following the sale, the AE enables Regional Sales Managers to stay focused on growth.
Job Description:
Account Management & Retention
• Serve as the primary day-to-day service contact for assigned producers and in-force accounts.
• Own renewal planning and execution in partnership with Underwriting; carry retention accountability for the assigned block.
• Develop and maintain strong producer relationships that support retention, profitability, and long-term growth.
• Identify account risks and expansion opportunities; recommend retention actions and refer new business opportunities to the Regional Sales Manager.
• Engage the Regional Sales Manager on at-risk accounts - significant renewal actions, new lasers, or deteriorating experience - where the relationship or retention is at risk.
Account Servicing & Implementation
• Coordinate implementation for new and renewing business; lead implementation meetings and confirm premium, reporting, and claim-administration requirements.
• Coordinate activities across Underwriting, Claims, Accounting, Contracting (Connexure), and other functions.
• Own service escalations through resolution (no special authority required).
• Route claims-related service issues to the Claims team as the primary contact.
• Support the transition of new business into ongoing account management following the RSM handoff.
• Engage Compliance and Licensing to ensure proper appointment and licensing of broker partners.
• Underwriting Partnership & Authority
• Partner with Underwriting on renewal evaluation and negotiation aligned to profitability objectives.
• Operate initially with no independent underwriting authority: any change to terms and conditions requires Underwriting approval.
Business Partnership & Reporting
• Maintain knowledge of ESL products, market trends, and industry developments.
• Maintain accurate account, renewal, and pipeline data in applicable systems.
• Monitor and report on retention, renewal activity, and block profitability.
• Contribute to the execution of PartnerRe's ESL value proposition and a positive producer experience.
About You:
• Strong commercial and technical understanding of the ESL market and account lifecycle.
• Relationship-oriented professional with a strong customer-service mindset.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Able to manage multiple priorities and coordinate across stakeholders in a matrix environment.
• Strong analytical and business acumen; works independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to travel as required.
• 5-7+ years of Employer Stop Loss experience, including account management, renewals, producer relationships, and customer service. Skilled ESL account-management experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated success managing producer relationships, supporting retention, and delivering high-quality customer experience.
• Current Life & Health license, or ability to obtain upon hire.
• Strong working knowledge of ESL products, processes, and account-lifecycle management.
• Serve as the service relationship lead for National Accounts, unless otherwise assigned by the VP, ESL.
• Establish AE processes, standards, and tools for the emerging AE team.
• Train and mentor subsequent Account Executive hires; provide day-to-day guidance as the team grows.
• Serve as candidate for AE Team Lead as the function scales toward an AE team supporting up to six RSMs.
