2027Summer Internship – Trading Analyst, US

Internship positions are located at PIMCO’s Newport Beach, CA Headquarters 

 

You're eligible to apply if you: 

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree 

  • Must be able to begin full time employment at a PIMCO office between January 2028 – August 2028 

  • Must be enrolled at a university during the Fall 2027 semester (August 2027 – December 2027) 

  • Have a minimum 3.2 cumulative collegiate grade point average on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent) at an accredited 4-year college or university 

  • Are business proficient in English 

 

You’ll excel as a Trading Analyst if you: 

  • Show a strong interest in the financial markets, macroeconomics, investments, finance 

  • Have strong work ethic and integrity; you should be a team player that is proactive and self-motivated 

  • Have the ability to work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously 

  • Are comfortable with handling ambiguity 

  • Possess outstanding analytical and mathematical skills 

  • Have proficiency in at least one of the following: Python, SQL, and/or VBA 

  • Demonstrate curiosity and experience in using new emerging technologies and AI tools in your work or school projects to solve problems and drive better outcomes 

 

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Aggregate sector/market news and trade flows through communication with sell-side traders in order to update Trade Floor 

  • Analyzing and developing trade ideas in fixed income products 

  • Communication with sell-side traders/economist/strategist in order understand current market dynamics 

  • Support Senior Portfolio Managers in terms of managing client accounts 

  • Create tools in order to streamline processes and improve efficiency

PIMCO’s Portfolio Management team creates and supports investment solutions designed to help clients meet their financial goals while navigating decades of market change. The most important function of this role is to maximize return consistent with client objectives. You will work alongside Portfolio Managers on the desk, focusing on supporting the execution and optimization of trades and required research.  You will gain insight into the day-to-day functioning of Capital Markets, and contribute firsthand the trading of global risk and capital flows. Successful interns receiving full time offers will have the opportunity to join full-time after graduation. 

 

While our eligibility requirements are not flexible, we encourage you to apply even if you do not possess 100% of the desired skills outlined above. 

 

The PIMCO Internship Experience:  

  • The PIMCO Internship is a 10-week program that runs from early June to mid-August, with the expectation that you will be available for the full duration of the program   

  • During Week 1, you’ll participate in PIMCO Fundamentals Training, providing you with the skills, knowledge, and relationships that will prepare you for success

What to expect during the interview process:  

  • After we receive your application, we will conduct an initial review of your resume   

  • If you are selected to move forward, you will take a cognitive assessment and have the opportunity to showcase your interests, skills, and personality by completing a one-way video interview   

  • Once you complete the assessment and one-way video interview, you will have a final round of live interviews via video conference. These interviews typically include both behavioral and technical questions

PIMCO follows a total compensation approach when rewarding employees which includes a base salary and a discretionary bonus. Base salary is the fixed component of compensation that is determined by core job responsibilities, relevant experience, internal level, and market factors. The discretionary bonus is used to award performance and therefore is determined by company, business, team, and individual performance.


Hourly Rate: $ 52.88
