Job Description

Position Title: Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) Engineer, Sr
Location: Hybrid/Scott Airforce Base, IL
Status: Contingent upon award

Scope of Work:

U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) is the single manager for global patient movement for the Department of War (DoW), responsible for synchronizing transportation and medical evacuation to provide life-saving care to warfighters across the spectrum of military operations.

TRAC2ES is a critical system for the DoW supporting global patient movement operations by integrating medical regulating, patient evacuation, and command and control decision support, ensuring efficient and secure patient movement across peace, war, and contingency scenarios. TRAC2ES handles sensitive data, including Personal Identifiable Information (PII) and Protected Health Information (PHI), and operates within both classified and unclassified environments.

USTRANSCOM seeks innovative solutions to enhance, sustain, and modernize TRAC2ES. The solution must address challenges in scalability, performance, cybersecurity, interoperability, and operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with DoW standards. Additionally, the solution must include options for transitioning TRAC2ES's functionality to a secure, user-friendly mobile application to improve accessibility and operational efficiency in diverse operational environments. The solution must optimize TRAC2ES's capabilities to meet evolving mission requirements while ensuring compliance with DoW standards, including Zero Trust (ZT) principles.

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for leading the design and implementation of Zero Trust architectures within Intelligence Community environments; requires collaboration with senior leaders and integration of Cybersecurity solutions and responsible for the execution of the following tasks:
  • Supporting advanced IC architectures involving conditional access, micro-segmentation, visibility analytics
  • Guiding senior executives (CISO, CIO, etc.) on cybersecurity maturation
  • Managing teams to implement roadmap capabilities and solutions;
  • Define strict, rule-based policies that grant access on a per-session, need-to-know basis.
  • Verify device compliance (e.g., up-to-date antivirus, OS patching) prior to connection.
  • Hide applications, IP addresses, and infrastructure from public view and unauthorized discovery.
  • Monitor ongoing session context and revoke privileges in near real-time if conditions change

Requirements/Experience:
  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Leadership experience of Zero Trust strategies for federal and IC organizations
  • 7+ years experience in IT operations or Cybersecurity within the IC
  • Experience designing Zero Trust solutions in alignment with industry standards like NIST 800-207; Supporting advanced IC architectures involving conditional access, micro-segmentation, visibility analytics
  • Experience in innovative security-focused AI, NGFW, and machine learning applications
  • Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP Cloud cybersecurity expertise
  • CISSP, CISM, CEH required
  • Familiarity with software delivery methodologies such as agile/scrum
