Overview

DecisionPoint seeks a Zero Trust Automation & Orchestration Engineer to support the automation of Zero Trust capabilities across a large federal and DoD-aligned mission environment. This role develops, deploys, and maintains automation workflows that support telemetry ingestion, policy enforcement, identity-based decisioning, provisioning, and continuous monitoring.

The Zero Trust Automation & Orchestration Engineer plays a key role in enabling scalable, repeatable, and adaptive Zero Trust capabilities by building automation pipelines, integrating security tools, and improving operational efficiency across identity, network, application, and data domains.

This position is fully remote.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Zero Trust Automation & Orchestration Engineer will:

  • Develop automation workflows that support Zero Trust telemetry ingestion, policy enforcement, and identity-driven decisioning.
  • Implement automated provisioning, configuration, and access workflows across hybrid environments.
  • Integrate Zero Trust systems, identity services, monitoring tools, and policy engines using APIs and automation frameworks.
  • Support continuous monitoring by automating data collection, reporting, and compliance checks.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, IAM, cloud engineering, and network teams to automate cross-functional processes.
  • Develop scripts, pipelines, and orchestration workflows that support repeatable Zero Trust operations.
  • Assist in building event-driven automation to respond to security indicators, risk signals, or policy deviations.
  • Troubleshoot automation issues, workflow failures, and integration challenges across multiple systems.
  • Maintain documentation for automation standards, runbooks, and configuration procedures.
  • Support Zero Trust roadmap planning by identifying automation opportunities and efficiency improvements.
  • Participate in testing, validating, and refining automated controls and enforcement mechanisms.
  • Contribute to modernization initiatives that improve operational resilience and reduce manual intervention.

Qualifications

Clearance Requirement

Must hold an active Top Secret clearance, supported by a Tier 5 background investigation.

Education (Required)

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, DevSecOps, Cybersecurity, IT Engineering, or a related field.

Experience (Required)

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in automation engineering, DevSecOps, cybersecurity engineering, or IT workflow orchestration.
  • Experience developing automation scripts, pipelines, or workflows using scripting languages or automation frameworks.
  • Experience integrating identity services, monitoring platforms, or policy engines via APIs.
  • Experience supporting automated provisioning, configuration management, or continuous monitoring tasks.
  • Experience troubleshooting automation failures across hybrid cloud and on-prem environments.

Technical Knowledge (Required)

  • Proficiency with automation tools or scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash).
  • Understanding of Zero Trust concepts, identity-based decisioning, and policy automation.
  • Experience with APIs, webhooks, or automation interfaces for security tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud automation and configuration approaches in AWS or similar environments.

Technical Knowledge (Preferred)

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, IaC tools, or security orchestration platforms.
  • Familiarity with SIEM, EDR, or identity analytics for event-driven automation.
  • Experience building cross-domain automation workflows across identity, device, network, or application systems.

Certifications

Required:

  • Security+

Preferred:

  • Additional DoD 8570/8140 automation or engineering-aligned certifications
