Job DescriptionU.S. Bank is seeking a z/OS Systems Programmer that has extensive experience in mainframe technologies with an emphasis on installation/upgrading, tuning, and troubleshooting of z/OS and third-party software. This individual should be self-motivated and driven to help contribute toward the success of our mainframe technology initiatives. This person will work in a team environment supporting multiple systems in a highly redundant and robust mainframe environment. Participate in project teams to implement new capabilities and technologies. Suggest new or alternative products and solutions to modernize and streamline our environment. Lead projects and efforts across multiple teams.
Responsibilities Include
-Create and follow a standardized product upgrade methodology
-Lead/participate in resolution of complex z/OS problems
-Provide support for z/OS across multiple Sysplex’s and data centers
-Collaborate with storage management, performance tuning/capacity planning, security, networking and development teams
-Use SMPE to install/update z/OS software
-Participate in DR recovery and testing
-Configure both z/OS and third-party software
-Document software and hardware configurations and settings
-Work with vendors for system support and problem resolution
-Provide 24X7 on-call support as part of a team rotation

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
- At least 5 years of experience within a total information technology (IT) environment
- At least 10 years of experience with the design, development and support of technology infrastructure
Preferred Skills/Experience:
Extensive experience in:
-Mainframe technologies including hardware -Technical troubleshooting of z/OS issues -Mainframe monitoring tools as such Mainview and RMF
-Complex z/OS Sysplex environments
-Security managers such as RACF
-IBM GDPS
Subject matter expert in:
-z/OS installation and upgrade processes
-Subsystems such as CICS, IMS, JES2, MQ, and DB2
-Extensive Knowledge in z/OS System parameters and settings
-Configuration of Coupling Facilities
-Mainframe Storage configurations
-Supporting third-party software products such as products from CA/Broadcom, BMC, Compuware
-Knowledge of z/OS Internals
-Mainframe hardware and components
-Assembler and REXX programming knowledge
-Ability to learn new technologies related to automation such as python
Location expectations
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $105,400.00 - $124,000.00
