Turner & Townsend are seeking a strong leader to head up the Water and Wastewater sector in the USA. The primary objective of this role is to accelerate the growth of the Turner & Townsend business while enhancing market reputation. The water sector is one pillar of the Turner & Townsend Infrastructure segment. The Water Industry report reveals a sector facing growing pressure across infrastructure, financing, and long-term water supply reliability. Aging infrastructure remains the most pressing challenge, closely followed by the need for sustainable funding and long-term water supply reliability. At Turner & Townsend we believe we are uniquely positioned to support authorities to address these issues. To date Turner & Townsend have made progress within the sector through winning commissions with several authorities but are now looking to expand our capability across the USA market.

The role of Water Sector Lead is a senior leadership position responsible for growing our business and our reputation in the Water sector in the region with priority focus on the USA. This senior Director level role includes determining and delivering the regional business generation strategy and assuming the responsibility for generating new business, building our proposition, building teams and capacity to deliver. You will assume full responsibility for the quality of our delivery and building client advocacy.
  • Develop the National Water Strategic Plan that serves as the basis for developing the best approach for securing business development opportunities with existing and new clients, including cross-selling opportunities, and new business.
  • Accountability for current water commissions and performance.
  • Take a leading role identifying and creating strategic alliances to secure routes to market.
  • Effectively manage contractual risk and maximize commercial returns.
  • Develop a position for T&T as a program partner within the marketplace.
  • Through gravitas and experience, be able to influence clients at the board level.
  • Ability to access key decision makers within clients, regulatory bodies, and government.
  • Advance the overall Water Sector through a well-articulated vision.
  • Provide thought leadership at the global, national, and regional levels.
  • Critical understanding and ability to comprehend internal strengths and weaknesses across the global practice.
  • Lead the development of the annual strategic plan for the Water Market Sector.
  • Plan and coordinate national conference activities and events.
  • Water Lead Business development, while providing guidance to field offices to develop and execute targeted client capture plans.
  • Serves as capture lead and/or sponsor on key strategic pursuits.
  • Establishes and prioritizes key accounts at a global scale across the Water market; surveys industry and develops a prioritized list of growth areas.
  • Guides the development of winning pursuits strategies and assist in reviewing client solicitations.
  • Publishes articles in key Water journals and/or presents at industry conferences as part of our brand recognition strategy.
  • Key Metrics include identification of new opportunities and successfully winning new opportunities.
  • Works with our regional sector leads to identify and grow opportunities across the country.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Science, Business, or related discipline.
  • 15+ years of experience within the water and wastewater sector.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience managing business growth, major programs, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated success winning and delivering large-scale water and wastewater infrastructure programs.
  • Established relationships with key public-sector water utility owners and industry stakeholders across the U.S.
  • Proven business development and client account management experience generating significant revenue growth.
  • Strong financial, commercial, and risk management acumen.
  • Excellent executive communication, stakeholder engagement, and strategic leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • MBA or Master's degree.
  • Experience leading a national water practice within a consulting, engineering, program management, or infrastructure advisory organization.
  • Nationally recognized thought leader in the water and wastewater industry.
