Water Facilities Technical Leader (Pump Stations/Hydraulics/W/WW Conveyance/Piping Design)

Work Location: Remote U.S. based as an option for the right candidate (but preferably work in one of our BGE office locations across Texas and the Southeast)

Job Description
  • Senior Level Principal Engineer with experience in water facilities design (hydraulics, pump stations, and piping design)
  • Advise on large-scale water infrastructure projects involving pumping systems, raw water, treated water, sewage, and storm drain systems; complex water distribution and transmission projects; design-build and alternative delivery projects; projects across multiple states and potentially nationally.
  • Serve as Technical Advisor/Subject Matter Expert on a variety of civil engineering projects related to water systems including modeling, pipeline, lift stations and pump station facilities.
  • Be the go-to resource to solve complex technical problems, mentor emerging talent and help establish BGE as a recognized leader in the hydraulic facilities practice.
  • Working in partnership with Conveyance Practice Leader, Water and Wastewater Treatment Practice Leaders, Area Leaders, and Team Leaders to develop and deliver winning strategies to meet client needs.
  • Provide technical mentorship to engineering staff in varied specialties in water and wastewater conveyance and treatment.
  • As a member of our senior technical team, contribute to the leadership of our emerging engineers in high performance operational and technical procedures, as well as relationship building and community involvement.
  • Partner with senior Operations/Client Management staff in developing and maintaining client relationships as the Technical Expert Point of Contact
  • Technical Engineering support for the development of project pursuits, proposals, and interviews.
  • Currently have and continue to maintain vendor and manufacturer relationships, and other industry networks.
  • Professional engineer (PE) license in Texas, or across the southeast states, or the ability to obtain the various state licensure(s).
  • Ideally Hydraulic Institute Pump System Assessment Professional (PSAP) certified.
  • Professional Organization participation is preferred.
  • Engaged in professional and industry associations such as Hydraulic Institute, AWWA, WEF, ASCE, ASME, etc.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical, or environmental engineering; or related field
  • Registered PE in Texas required or through reciprocity within 6 months of hire (will have PE license in multiple states across US).
  • 15+ years' experience working in public works and/or municipal services projects and working in water & sewer system planning and design, engineering and designing water facilities (hydraulics, pump stations, and piping design).
  • Significant expertise in hydraulic facilities, pump stations, and lift stations is a must have; highest priority.
  • Experience with large diameter pipelines and conveyance systems is a must have, highest priority.
  • Understanding water conveyance systems (raw water, treated water, sewage, storm ) is a must have.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Water Modeling Software (WaterGEMS, InfoWater, or comparable) preferred.
