Virtual Power Plant - Project Engineer Lead (Massachusetts)

Position Summary:

The Project Engineer Lead is the technical and troubleshooting expert for the sonnen product as well as the front-line relationship leader to our partners and contractors in the field. This is a people leader role. While working primarily in the field, the Project Engineer Lead must have a deep understanding of the sonnen product, its application in the field, and how to resolve problems. The Project Engineer Lead will instruct and support stakeholders, both internal and external, to help resolve problems and maintain the highest level of sonnen quality in the field. In addition, the Project Engineer Lead is the market leader for project management, partner support, and support functions on VPP sites under construction and in operation. Under direction of their direct supervisor, the Project Engineer Lead will be responsible for proactively managing activities and supporting sonnen related aspects of VPP projects. Both directly and in managing those in their reporting structure. This is a heavy travel position, with up to 75% in the field required within the assigned market. In the market, the Project Engineer Lead will assist with technical training, system design, system installations, problem troubleshooting/ resolution, RMA/ warranty resolutions, as well as managing subordinate engineers or technicians. Some national travel and travel back to HQ in Atlanta throughout the year can be expected as well.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Travel to visit partners and job sites within the assigned territory
  • Support partners with technical training, installation and design support, and system troubleshooting
  • Resolve technical cases using all available tools to solve problems and maintain high customer satisfaction
  • Answer incoming phone calls and email from our partners, support the inside operational staff, guiding the team to resolve issues from a supervisory level
  • Construction related project management duties on assigned projects
  • Develop and maintain key documentation as it relates to projects and ongoing activities
  • Maintain relationships with the R&D team to ensure growing product expertise
  • Utilize Salesforce and other designated tools to document relevant call activity to ensure proper data capture, issue tracking, and customer-specific activities
  • Manage team members as assigned
  • Ability to manage both direct tasks and outcomes as well as those of direct reports and subordinates
  • Provide staffing and resource oversight at direction of supervisor
  • Other duties as necessary to ensure high quality, proactive, customer focused service


Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of technical product experience within solar, electronics, or technology industries
  • Prior experience in residential / commercial construction industries
  • Strong oral and written skills and interpersonal communication skills
  • Track record of managing people successfully
  • Must have direct, hands-on experience working with power electronics and/ or electrical systems
  • Proven track record in team management and time bound, high quality production projects
  • "Problem Solver" mentality. Someone who loves to understand and resolve difficult problems
  • Highly organized with the ability to clearly organize thoughts, schedules, reports, and databases
  • Ability to understand complicated technical information and communicate such information to non-experts
