DescriptionRole Summary Precon is seeking a highly capable, strategic, and emotionally intelligent Vice President, Strategic Operations to help lead the organization into its continued growth. This role is the senior operating partner to the Founder and CEO, responsible for translating vision into execution and building the operating discipline, infrastructure, and accountability needed for Precon to scale successfully.
The Vice President will lead the company's core operating work: maintaining company processes and protocols, reporting, technology, internal communication, and operating cadence; supporting organizational design and talent decisions. This role will identify opportunities to improve profitability and turn strategy into a measurable result. This role serves as a close counselor to the CEO and a unifying presence across leadership perspectives.
As a senior leader within a growing industry leader, this individual must combine operational rigor with strong interpersonal judgment. They must be able to understand company deficiencies, diagnose what needs to change, and lead the necessary follow-through. That includes coaching and developing people, building stronger teams, hiring, and addressing underperformance or termination when it is in the company's best interest.
This role will also oversee Precon's producers, creative functions, and work across departments. This is an important responsibility, but it sits within the larger mandate of building a better-run growth organization. The Vice President will help experienced producers work as a team, and strengthen the connection among client strategy, creative thinking, operational feasibility, and profitability.
RequirementsKey Responsibilities Strategic Operations & CEO Partnership- Partner with the Founder and CEO to translate strategic vision into actionable priorities.
- Establish a disciplined operating cadence, including leadership meetings, goals, decision follow-up, and accountability.
- Serve as a trusted counselor to the CEO, providing candid recommendations, and helping distinguish urgent issues from important long-term work.
- Support long-term planning, including profitable growth, organizational capacity, and the systems required to scale.
Organizational Infrastructure, Process & Systems- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of company processes, protocols, policies, and cross-functional workflows.
- Strengthen the company's internal operating infrastructure, including performance reporting, documentation, systems adoption, and appropriate use of technology.
- Identify points of friction, unclear ownership, recurring errors, or capacity constraints and lead practical solutions.
- Work with functional leaders to ensure that processes support both exceptional client service and disciplined execution.
- Help evaluate and prioritize improvements to Precon's technology stack, internal tools, and operating systems in partnership with the relevant leaders and outside resources.
Operational Performance & Financial Partnership- Oversee operating performance across the business, ensuring that priorities, resources, and responsibilities are aligned with company goals.
- Work closely with the CFO and accounting team on budgeting, forecasting, profitability, and financial planning.
- Translate financial and operational data into practical management decisions and improvement plans.
- Balance fiscal discipline with appropriate investment in people, systems and production capacity, and growth initiatives.
Organizational Leadership & Talent Management- Lead organizational design, staffing strategy, performance management, and professional development across the company.
- Coach and develop leaders, establish clear expectations, and strengthen the company's accountability culture.
- Make or recommend personnel decisions with sound judgment and respect, including hiring, promotions, role changes, development plans, restructuring, and termination when required.
- Partner with external HR, administrative, and professional-service resources as appropriate to ensure that the company has the support it needs as it grows.
Department Leadership- Directly oversee and develop Precon's experienced producer team and creative function, creating stronger alignment, accountability, and professional development.
- Strengthen how producers, sales, account management, creative, technical delivery, and production operations work together.
- Improve strategic client planning, account continuity, producer development, and opportunity selection so Precon focuses on work where its full capabilities create the greatest value.
- Work with creative, production, and technical leaders to ensure that strong ideas become clientsolutions that are compelling, executable, and profitable.
Required- 12+ years of progressively responsible leadership experience in operations, business integration, general management, Chief of Staff-type role, COO, President, or equivalent senior operating position.
- Demonstrated experience building or improving the operating infrastructure of a growing organization, including processes, cross-functional workflows, reporting, systems, technology adoption, and accountability mechanisms.
- Proven experience managing people and leaders, including coaching, hiring, performance management, organizational design, and difficult personnel decisions.
- Strong judgment and financial fluency, including comfort with budgets, forecasting, profitability, operating metrics, and resource allocation.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a small to mid-sized, founder-led, family-owned, or similarly entrepreneurial business environment.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, organizational, and strategic-thinking skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Ability to earn the trust of experienced, strong-willed leaders while bringing directness, fairness, and follow-through to decisions.
Preferred- Experience in live event production, experiential marketing, agency services, hospitality, destination management, or another high-touch, project-based service business.
- Experience directly leading producers, account leaders, client-services professionals, creative teams, or comparable experienced client-facing talent.
- Experience scaling a business or supporting a company through meaningful growth or transition.
- Familiarity with project-based economics, job costing, event or production workflows, or service-business profitability.
- Experience working closely with founders or family-owned businesses.
