Job Description:The VP of Sales & Marketing will have a remote office with 20+ days in person in Pasadena, CA for company events and professional development activities. The VP will also travel for client meetings and conferences when required.
What you will do:Sales Leadership- Build a go-to-market strategy across both legacy service catalogs, translating market positioning into territory, account, and campaign plans.
- Manage and coach the two Account Executives team against consolidated pipeline, activity, and revenue targets; report attainment to the COO on a monthly/quarterly cadence.
- Own the sales process end-to-end; prospecting through close, renewal, and expansion.
- Use CRM and sales analytics to optimize territory design, capacity, and conversion rates as the team grows, rather than scaling headcount without a data basis for it.
- Execute cross-sell and bundled-pricing motions for engagements spanning multiple service lines.
- Maintain team coverage and continuity through staffing transitions, including planned leaves, using documented coverage plans.
- Recalibrate quotas, activity targets, and comp/incentive structures as real performance data accumulates.
Marketing Execution- Run day-to-day marketing execution including campaigns, content, and sales-enablement collateral.
- Partner with the COO on website and PR-adjacent priorities, since digital presence supports both sales and public-facing goals.
Team Building & Scaling- Build the sales and marketing team for growth; recommend and hire additional Sales Directors, Account Executives, and marketing roles as pipeline and revenue targets require, in partnership with the COO on timing and budget.
- Recruit, retain, and develop top-tier sales and marketing talent, building a culture of accountability and continuous coaching rather than relying solely on individual hires' prior track records.
- Implement the sales operations, revenue operations, and reporting governance the team needs as it scales.
- Own new hires' ramp and performance against plan, applying the same discipline used for the existing team's 30-60-90 day ramp process.
Systems & Reporting- Support consolidation of CRM and pipeline-reporting infrastructure across both companies, in partnership with the Operations function.
- Own the sales pipeline and forecast, reporting regularly to the COO on progress against Year One and quarterly targets.
- Track and report core marketing metrics (qualified leads, campaign performance, site engagement).
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent progressive experience considered.
- 5-8+ years in sales leadership, with direct people-management experience over a multi-person sales team.
- Marketing fluency; able to direct campaigns and content even without being the hands-on creator.
- Experience selling into complex, long-cycle institutional buyers (K-12, higher ed, HR/back-office services, or government) strongly preferred, given buyer base.
- Track record managing a team through integration or organizational change without losing pipeline momentum.
- Comfortable operating with a COO/executive layer above, translating strategy into execution rather than setting strategy independently.
Working Conditions- Primarily remote with regular travel to client and prospect sites and industry conferences. Some evening/weekend availability required around major proposal deadlines.
