Position Summary
Sennos is the pioneer and leader in automated fermentation monitoring and analysis - a company defining a new category, not competing in an existing one. The VP of Marketing will be the first marketing leader at Sennos, hired to build the function from the ground up and own brand, positioning, and demand generation across core and emerging markets. This is a hands-on role for someone equally comfortable setting the category narrative and running the campaign that fills the funnel. The decisions made in the first year will shape the language the industry uses to talk about fermentation intelligence for years to come - a career-defining opportunity for the right leader.
Responsibilities
Brand, Positioning & Category Strategy
- Define and evolve the category narrative for fermentation intelligence, including positioning, messaging, and the language the industry will use to describe this new space
- Build brand awareness and credibility with brewers, distillers, and enterprise beverage companies through content, thought leadership, and industry presence
- Represent Sennos externally as a spokesperson with media, analysts, and industry organizations
- Work with the executive team to build a future-back market roadmap, translating CEO vision into execution outcomes
Demand Generation & Go-to-Market
- Plan and execute go-to-market campaigns for product launches in collaboration with Sales, Product Management, and Customer Success
- Partner with sales leadership on enterprise and strategic account-based marketing for named accounts
- Establish marketing metrics and reporting that connect brand and demand generation activity to pipeline and revenue outcomes
Content, Enablement & Events
- Deliver enablement materials in partnership with Product that support the sales cycle, including one-pagers, economic justification tools, and program collateral
- Partner with Customer Success and Business Development to turn customer outcomes into case studies and proof points
- Own industry event strategy, including trade shows and conferences central to core markets and adjacent fermentation industries
Team & Function Building
- Build and manage the marketing function from scratch, including hiring, agency and vendor relationships, and budget ownership
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field; advanced degree a plus; equivalent experience considered
Experience:
- 12+ years of marketing experience, with meaningful time in a leadership capacity at an early-stage or growth-stage technology company
- Direct experience creating or leading marketing for a new product category - not just a new product within an established category
- Track record spanning both strategic brand building and tactical campaign execution, with the ability to point to work personally shaped at both levels
- Experience marketing to industrial, manufacturing, or packaged goods audiences, or demonstrated ability to quickly learn a technical, process-driven industry
- Experience building a marketing function without a large existing team or budget
- Experience marketing to both SMB and enterprise buyers within the same product line
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts (sensors, machine learning, fermentation science) into narratives non-technical buyers understand
- Comfort operating in a dynamic and ambiguous business environment
Skills:
- Category creation and brand positioning
- Demand generation, ABM, and pipeline marketing
- Go-to-market strategy and product launch execution
- Content marketing, thought leadership, and industry communications
- Marketing analytics and revenue attribution
- Cross-functional leadership and executive communication
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in fermentation, biotech, food & beverage, industrial IoT, or adjacent industries
- Experience working directly with a founder or CEO to define company narrative and positioning
- Established relationships with relevant trade media, analysts, or industry organizations
- Experience managing agency relationships and external creative partners
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
This is primarily a desk-based role with regular travel for industry events and conferences.
