OverviewSusquehanna is looking for a Virtualization Engineer to help design and build infrastructure for our trading platforms on Openstack. You will work closely with other infrastructure engineers and software developers to create scalable systems.
What You'll DoAutomate and Evolve: Contribute to our library of home-grown tools, written primarily in Python and Bash, utilizing tools such as Jenkins to automate bare-metal and virtual server deployments, monitoring, and maintenance, allowing you to focus on performance related issues and projects.
Optimize: Tune virtualization environments for performance and network stacks for throughput and latency. Dive deep on root-cause analysis of systems issues. Anything is fair game if there's impact.
Collaborate: Work closely with stakeholders to understand business problems. Implement scalable solutions using SAN and high-speed networks.
Create: Design and implement our next-generation VM platform in Openstack which is slated to replace our 18000 guest VMWare environment.
Monitor: Effectively track and display cluster capacity to ensure optimal performance. Forecast and prepare for increased resource demands. Develop tools that best fit our needs for monitoring and capacity planning.
What we're looking for- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
- 1-5 years of progressive experience building Linux based platforms at scale.
- Familiarity with kernel-level and I/O subsystem tweaks and tools such as sysctl, strace, tcpdump, and netstat.
- Recent hands-on experience with automation in Python, required
- In-depth experience in open-source-based virtualization such as Openstack, RedHat Openshift, kubevirt, or similar.
