Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Systems Engineer
Location: Dayton, OH
Work Model: Fully onsite at NASIC
Clearance: Active TS/SCI

Overview
Rackner is seeking a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Engineer to support the VDI Engineering and Endpoint Management team. The VDI Engineer will work within a team
responsible for the implementation, management, maintenance, security compliance, and documentation of the organization's multi-cloud Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
and thin-client endpoint environment.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain 10ZiG thin-client environments hosted in AWS, including device configurations, firmware updates, security patches, certificates, andendpoint enrollment
  • Configure and support VDI environments, including Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), AWS Workspaces, and Horizon
  • Build and maintain virtual desktop images, user profiles, applications, host pools, and scaling configurations
  • Test VDI performance and compatibility, gather user feedback, and make improvements to desktop environments
  • Work with Information System Security Officers (ISSOs) to support security compliance and continuous monitoring requirements
  • Apply and maintain DISA STIGs across virtual desktops, Active Directory, thin clients, and cloud resources
  • Support ATO and CTO activities by preparing technical documentation, testing configurations, and gathering required evidence
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including CONOPS, SOPs, and system architecture documentation


Qualifications/Experience Preferred
  • VDI Administration: experience administering at least one of the primary VDIplatforms (AVD, AWS WorkSpaces, Horizon)
  • Endpoint Management: Experience configuring and operating 10ZiG Manager or equivalent thin-client deployment consoles
  • Scripting & Automation: Proficiency with scripting languages (PowerShell,Bash, or Python) to automate template deployment, cloud resource scheduling, and user profile management
  • Infrastructure Security: Documented experience executing STIG checklists and supporting CTO/ATO documentation packages in highly regulated enterprise environments
  • Writing Capabilities: Strong technical communication skills, with experience drafting standard operating procedures (SOPs), technical design blueprints, and system whitepapers
  • CompTIA Security+ (DoD 8570 / 8140 IAT Level II baseline) OR a globally recognized equivalent certification is MANDATORY


Preferred Certifications:

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or SysOps Administrator
  • VMware Certified Professional - Desktop and Mobility (VCP-DTM) or Omnissa Horizon credentials
