(Job #561583) Administrator IV, Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate and Graduate Studies, CSU Salary Range: $10,106 - $32,441 monthly; Anticipated Hiring Range: $15,417 - $16,909 monthly. This is a full-time, benefited, exempt, 12-month pay plan, at-will position in Academic Programs. This position is an Administrator IV in the California State University Management Personnel Plan (MPP). Under this plan, incumbents are subject to normal management reviews and serve at the pleasure of the University President. Position Summary: The Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate and Graduate Studies serves in a central senior leadership role for the division. Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Vice Provost provides leadership in the following key areas: Strategic Leadership in Academic Programs; Oversight of Key Academic and Student Support Units; Academic Affairs Leadership and Representation; and Personnel and Resource Management.
Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership in Academic Programs - 40% - Development, implementation, assessment, and review of academic programs including undergraduate and graduate studies, directly supervising the university's Director of Assessment.
- Leadership and coordination of the Academic Master Plan.
- Direct oversight of the Individualized Degree Program (IDP) and General Studies.
- Coordination of General Education and All-University Requirements (GEAR), including analysis of offerings, coordination of responsiveness to demand, oversight of GEAR assessment and program review, and coordination with the provost and deans for the appropriate funding of GEAR.
- Serve as a resource for specialized program accreditation, and serve as oversight and coordination of university accreditation, directly supervising the university's Accreditation Liaison Officer.
Oversight of Key Academic and Student Support Units - 20% - Oversight of the Academic Advising Center, Place-Based Learning Communities (PBLC), the Retention through Academic Mentoring Program (RAMP), the Center for Community Based Learning (CCBL), and the class scheduling process and personnel.
- Oversight of the Curriculum Office and senior administrator serving as Ex-Officio member of the Integrated Curriculum Committee (ICC), practicing strong shared governance and providing technical support for curriculum processes, serving as the campus liaison with the Chancellor's Office and serving as the campus authority on compliance with curriculum policy.
- As Dean of Graduate Studies, collaborate with academic leadership in the colleges to foster the university's graduate studies culture, including advocating for and securing GA/TA waivers and funding, engagement activities, and other supports for graduate students that foster community and student success.
Academic Affairs Leadership and Representation - 20% - Serve as acting provost in the absence of the provost.
- Serve as a key member of the Academic Affairs Operations Team (with the AVP Faculty Affairs, Director of Academic Resources, Executive Assistant, and Provost) that provides updates, makes recommendations and executes division operations.
- Serve as a thought partner and advisor to the Provost on complex division and university matters.
- Represent Academic Affairs on key committees and working groups (such as Emergency Operations Center) and as a spokesperson with media when delegated to do so.
Personnel and Resource Management - 15% - Recruit, supervise, evaluate, and support development of personnel in areas within purview.
- Strategic management of the Academic Programs budget and other resources (such as space and equipment) to support the success of areas within purview.

- Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable, learner- and growth-minded community for students, staff, administrators, and university partners
Minimum Qualifications: - An earned doctorate from an accredited institution with qualifications comparable to those required for a tenured faculty appointment in one of the University's academic departments.
- Five or more years of successful administrative experience such as serving as a department chair, associate dean, dean, or program director.
Preferred Qualifications: - Demonstrated track record of successfully supporting academic support units, understanding their importance to the university's central academic purpose
