Position Summary
The Vice President, Solutions Portfolio leads StateNet, CounselLink, Interaction, Intelligize, Henchman, CourtLink, and Public Records as a coherent, integrated portfolio. The VP carries full P&L accountability with responsibility for revenue growth, competitive and M&A strategy, product portfolio strategy, AI positioning, go-to-market execution, and team leadership.
1. Revenue Growth
• Own all revenue and profitability targets across the portfolio; drive a cohesive go-to-market model bridging dedicated product sales teams with the flagship research sales organization.
• Ensure pipeline health, rigorous forecasting, and disciplined resource allocation; represent the portfolio in monthly financial reviews and the annual capital planning cycle.
• Identify and convert adjacency opportunities - products or capabilities that extend the legal workflow - into revenue-generating initiatives.
2. Market Strategy: Competitive, M&A & Growth Plans
• Continuously assess competitive dynamics across each segment - share shifts, pricing pressure, and AI-native entrants - and translate insight into clear portfolio positioning: where to lead, defend, or harvest.
• Identify, evaluate, and sponsor acquisition and partnership opportunities that fill capability gaps or pre-empt threats; collaborate with RELX corporate development on deal theses and integration.
• Execute a multi-horizon growth strategy spanning near-term revenue defense (0-12 months), mid-term differentiation (1-3 years), and long-term AI-era leadership (3-5+ years).
3. Product & Portfolio Strategy
• Define what the portfolio must do to be competitive: close critical feature gaps and ensure each product delivers defensible daily-use value; guide roadmap prioritization so customer workflow opportunities drive investment.
• For each product, develop a value-capture thesis - pricing, packaging, tiering, or consumption models -evolving commercial models accordingly.
• Define the product development plan and capital allocation requests to expand each business beyond its current footprint through integrations, new data assets, or AI-native capabilities; ensure every product has a credible, cohesive vision and plan.
4. AI: Opportunities & Challenges
• Maintain a panoramic view of AI's impact on the legal technology landscape - where LLMs and other ML technologies are commoditizing capabilities, where moats are eroding, and where LexisNexis's proprietary data assets create durable differentiation.
• Lead the AI strategy for the portfolio: what remains defensible, what must be rebuilt, and where new product categories, data monetization, or workflow automation create growth opportunities.
• Track how AI is reshaping law firm economics, the GC function, and regulatory practice - anticipating second-order demand effects - and represent LexisNexis's AI vision externally as a thought leader.
5. Team Development & Performance
• Recruit and retain high-performance general managers for open roles (StateNet, CounselLink, Public Records); establish clear expectations and accountability across the portfolio leadership team.
• Foster a culture of excellence, psychological safety, and shared mission; model the shareholder customer employee value hierarchy in all operating decisions.
6. Client Engagement & Market Leadership
• Serve as an executive sponsor for the solutions portfolio with law firms, corporate legal departments, and regulatory bodies; deepen relationships with General Counsel, Heads of Legal Ops, and Senior Partners.
• Represent LexisNexis at industry events, customer advisory boards, and through thought leadership.
