Job Description:

Position: Vice President, Private Equity Business Development Energy

We are seeking an experienced Business Development professional to identify, cultivate, and close new business opportunities with private equity firms investing in the energy sector and their portfolio companies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and target private equity firms with active energy investment strategies, including buyout, growth equity, and infrastructure funds.
  • Build and maintain senior-level relationships with PE partners, principals, operating partners, and portfolio company executives.
  • Develop account strategies for key clients, understanding their investment approach, portfolio needs, and value creation timelines.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships to capture repeat business opportunities across multiple deals and portfolio companies.
  • Monitor PE deal activity across energy subsectors, including renewables, oil & gas, power generation, utilities, and clean technology.
  • Generate and qualify new business leads across the investment lifecycle, from due diligence to value creation and exit support.
  • Collaborate closely with Capstone's energy analysts to align client needs with the firm's advisory capabilities.
  • Represent Capstone at private equity and energy industry conferences, networking events, and client meetings to expand the firm's visibility and relationships.
  • Build and maintain relationships with investment bankers, consultants, and other professional services providers in the energy investment ecosystem.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of business development experience selling professional or advisory services. It would be a plus if these are selling to private equity firms.
  • Proven track record of generating $4-6M+ in annual new business revenue.
  • Strong consultative sales approach with excellent executive communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of the energy sector and PE investment processes preferred.
  • Comfortable with travel (30%+) for client engagement.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
