VICE PRESIDENT- CLAIMS
Location: This role requires a hybrid work schedule out of any of our California offices. https://www.epicbrokers.com/about/locations/
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Developing Objectives and Strategies - Establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them.
• Making Decisions and Solving Problems - analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
• Provide Consultation and Advice to Others - Providing guidance and expert advice to management or other groups on technical, systems or process-related topics
• Resolving Conflicts and Negotiating with Others - Handling complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiating with others.
• Communicating with Supervisors, Peers or Subordinates
• Getting Information - Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources. Obtain information from individuals
• Identifying Objects, Actions and Events - Identifying information by categorizing, estimating recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events
• Evaluating Information to Determine Compliance with Standards - Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulation or standards.
• Thinking Creatively - Developing, designing, or creating new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products.
• Communicating with Persons Outside Organization - Representing the organization to clients, the public government and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing or by telephone or e-mail; examples: communicate technical information, conduct presentations, compile information through interviews, and confer with legal advisors.
• Processing Information - Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data: Investigate insurance claims; verify investigative information; note discrepancies in financial records.
• Organizing, Planning and Priortizing Work - Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish work.
• Guiding and Developing Teams - Encouraging and building mutual trust, respect and cooperation famon team members.
• Guiding, Directing and Motivating Subordinates - Providing guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
• Establishing and maintaining Interpersonal Relationships - Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage Claims Advocates, Claims Consultants and other Administrative Personal.
KEY COMPETENCIES:
• Investigate, evaluate and settle claims, applying technical knowledge and human relations skills to effect fair and prompt disposal of cases and to contribute to a reduced loss ratio.
• Supervise claims adjusters to ensure that adjusters have followed proper methods.
• Adjust reserves or provide reserve recommendations to ensure that reserve activities are consistent with corporate policies.
• Resolve complex, severe exposure claims, using high service oriented file handling.
• Pay and process claims within designated authority level.
• Confer with Counsel on claims requiring litigation
• Contact or interview claimants, doctors, medical specialists or employers to get additional information.
• Maintain claim files such as records of settled claims and an inventory of claims requiring detailed analysis.
• Prepare reports to be submitted to company's data processing department
• Conduct detailed bill reviews to implement sound litigation management and expense control.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• 7-10+ years of brokerage claims experience, including knowledge of P&C coverages, policy forms and brokerage claim customer service activities.
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and the ability to navigate the internet.
• Ability to interact with a wide variety of people.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• Valid P&C Property Casualty Broker-Agent License.
• Juris Doctor of Law Degree, required
The national average salary for this role is $175,000 to $200,000 in base pay and exclusive of any bonuses or benefits. The base pay offered will be determined based on your experience, skills, training, certifications and education, while also considering internal equity and market data.
