Full Job Description
Status: Full-Time Salary

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Summary of Position: Vice President of Philanthropy is a national position with organizational responsibilities for continue the development and implementation of Youth Advocate Program (YAP) Private Sector Giving strategies designed to substantially increase support for YAP and its mission through philanthropic gifts, an individual donor base, major gifts from high wealth individuals, and appropriate corporate and foundation donors.

YAP currently operates programs across the county and engages in national work. Historically YAP has been funded through government grants but has grown the Philanthropy division within recent years. This position will build and expand that work.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Assess, Design, and implement private sector giving development strategies, systems, programs, and campaigns to support Youth Advocate Programs growth and expansion goals and increase support from the private sector
  • Supervise Philanthropy staff and contractors
  • Lead efforts to identify new donors (philanthropy, individuals, corporate) who may support YAP's work, including prospecting, research and develop proposal submissions
  • Sets and achieves fundraising goals in-line with the private sector giving strategy
  • Maintains a robust donor and prospect management system
  • Develops, cultivates, and maintains relationships with donors and prospective donors
  • Works collaboratively with field staff, YAP's leadership teams and Board of Directors
  • Work closely with YAP's public sector development, marketing, policy, and communication teams to coordinate messaging, as well as the budget division
  • Provide training to key staff to support implementation of private sector giving plan


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Communication, Public Administration, or related field.
  • Master's Degree is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with using online database, donor management, software such as Salesforce or Donor Perfect and other private giving resources expected.
  • Minimum 7 years of professional fund development experience required including Major Gifts, Annual Giving, Campaign Strategy, Donor Marketing, Foundation, and Corporate Gifts.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in in a Senior Leadership Role
  • Demonstrated success designing systems and securing significant philanthropic support including demonstrated history of raising high level gifts, unrestricted gifts, and gifts to support operations/capacity efforts at a large national organization
  • Experience in raising private sector support for community-based non-profits, including, implementing innovative, successful major gift and private donor campaigns
  • Believe in and support YAP's mission, including a demonstrated commitment to community-based human-centered solutions.
  • Experience interfacing with C-Suite, Boards, Development committees, and community and business leaders.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office with extensive knowledge using Microsoft Excel and/or Power BI, to evaluate results and set strategic philanthropic goals.
