Vice President of Door-to-Door Sales

VP of Door-to-Door Sales

National Painting Group • Colorado (field-based) • Full-Time (Hybrid)

You are a door to door pro... Incredibly good at what you do. And you want an opportunity to build something truly great in an industry that is virtually untapped with door to door systems and scale.

You want to build this inside a rapidly growing company that can handle the back end growth to allow for front end scale.

You'll bring your expertise to collaboratively build a highly effective door to door system we can scale that fits with our existing model.

I have hard data on this based on previous door to door campaigns we ran for years.

You've built teams, playbooks, and are eager to apply your skills to bring this role to life, and leverage your work to scale the model across our portfolio companies.

Keep reading if...

• You've knocked on doors yourself, and you are a top 1% performer.
• You've built a D2D team from zero, and the reps you recruited would follow you again.
• You want to BUILD. You'd rather be in the field with your first reps than managing someone else's playbook.
• You're a builder. You bring deep expertise and you're open to building it to fit our model.
• You believe D2D doesn't have to be a 60-70 hour grind, and you want to prove it.
• You're ambitious, financially and in life. You have big goals and you're going after them.
• You want your work to add to your life, not take from it.
• You want to love where you work: the work itself, the people, and what the company stands for.
• You want to be empowered and given room to perform, because you love to perform and produce amazing results.
• You're hungry to learn, grow and develop, as a professional and as a person.

What it's like to work here

Autonomy. We're all adults, we're high performers, and we all have a job to do. We trust each other to do our jobs, and you won't be micromanaged. This is a culture of universal accountability, not hierarchy. We are accountable individually and collectively.

High performance. When you work here, you're surrounded by high performers, and we expect the same from you.

Investment in your development. We produce exceptional results by investing heavily in our people through ongoing internal training and development. It goes beyond training you in your role: it develops you as someone who creates and fulfills intentions, and it shows up in your entire life.

Performance, not hours. We believe your work should add to your life, not take from it. We don't do hustle culture or 60-hour workweeks. You can perform at a high level without sacrificing your personal life, and we've found that's exactly what unlocks performance.

Clarity of intention & alignment. Everyone you work with is clear on the objective, how we operate, where we're going, and the future we're committed to.

Strategy & patience. We have a clear plan, and we don't take shortcuts. Impeccable, thoughtful work is the source of our increasingly rapid growth.

The Big Picture

Painting Business Pro is the largest and longest-running coaching program for painting contractors, with over 500 active members. We've grown that business by 500% over the last three years, and we expect that trend to continue for the next three years.

National Painting Group is our portfolio of painting companies, where we buy a minority stake in painting companies, grow them, and then help the partner ultimately exit, where we take over a majority stake of the business. We currently have 15 painting companies in our portfolio, 8 more in due diligence, and we expect to bring on 1 to 2 new partners every month in 2027.

But we also have plans beyond the painting industry. A lot of our core competencies, what makes us unique, and what we're building apply to business far beyond the painting industry.

Door-to-door is one of the highest-leverage points in that growth: a sales channel we control, deployed at every company we operate.

Requirements
The Role

This is a build-and-run role. In Year 1 you're a player-coach in the field at our two model companies, Elk Horn Painting and Foothills Painting. By Year 3 you're leading the D2D Leads at every portfolio company and running a national recruiting and training engine. You'll work for National Painting Group, not one painting company, so what you build gets deployed across the whole portfolio.

You'll be the person:

• Building the roles from scratch. Design the D2D rep and D2D Lead roles: comp plans, playbooks, training and daily rhythms.
• Recruiting and leading your first reps. Personally recruit, train and knock alongside your first 4 reps (2 at Elk Horn, 2 at Foothills). Then build a centralized recruiting, onboarding and training engine at NPG so our partners can scale without doing the heavy lifting.
• Owning the tech and targeting. Territory and route mapping, canvassing CRM, and census and demographic targeting so reps knock the right neighborhoods.
• Hitting the numbers. Set and own the KPIs: 15-20 estimates per rep per week, revenue per rep, and rep headcount on the roadmap.
• Making every channel stronger. Eventually we'll pair D2D with flyer drops, direct mail and jobsite branding so each channel produces more when stacked together.
• Developing leaders. Promote 2 D2D Leads at Elk Horn and Foothills in Year 1, then coach the Leads who run and grow teams at every company.

The 5 year roadmap is 4 → 15 → 40 → 100 → 200 reps. Any one company can reach 5-10 reps, 75-200 estimates per week and $5M-$20M a year from D2D. Within 5 years we want 200 reps nationally, generating 4,000 estimates and $10M sold per week.

We want to build it differently, too: reps working 30-40 hour weeks in a local market, earning $150K-$200K a year, with time for family and a real path to promotion. You'll be the one who makes that model real.
About You

• You have personal D2D production you can prove, with real numbers: doors, knock-to-set and set-to-close ratios. You have records to your name.
• You've recruited, trained and led a team of 20+ D2D reps you hired yourself (not inherited).
• You're hands-on with D2D tech (SPOTIO, Badger Maps or similar), a canvassing CRM, and census-based territory targeting.
• You're a known name in the D2D community: you're involved, you have a strong network, and reps who'd follow you.
• You've built or worked in a centralized model, with recruiting, training and support deployed across multiple locations.
• You hit the ground running, know exactly what to do, and are hungry to grow as a leader.

Nice to have: reps you've promoted into managers or Leads who run their own teams, and D2D you've paired with direct mail or flyers. Many great candidates come from regional sales director or VP roles in high-volume home services (solar, roofing, alarm, pest control), from leading a top D2D team or division, or from founding a D2D sales agency.

Location: Hybrid and field-based in Colorado, working in person at our model companies, Elk Horn Painting and Foothills Painting.

This is a full-time role and your sole focus. Target start date: early January 2027.
How to Apply

Please submit all three:

1. Your resume
2. A short cover letter: why National Painting Group, and why this role
3. A 1-2 minute video: you, on camera, telling us why you'd be a great fit

For a D2D leader, that video is also a work sample: show us how you'd come across on a homeowner's porch.

We won't consider applications without all three.
What to Expect After You Apply

This is an important role, and we're highly selective. Because we expect a lot of interest, we'll only reach out to the candidates we're moving forward with.

Your first step is a phone conversation with Vivian, who leads talent for our organization. Strong candidates then record short video answers to three questions about the role. From there, strong candidates move to a conversation with me, including a walk through our company, mission, vision, values, and how we work... And then through the rest of our process, which includes meeting several members of our team (we've found that to be one of the most important steps).

We move fast, because speed matters with the right people. If we're moving forward, you'll hear from us within 24 hours. If you don't, it means we didn't see the right fit this time, and we wish you the best in your search.
