Full Job Description
The Vice President of Accounting is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Accounting Department. They ensure the company's financial statements are accurate and complete. They oversee the establishment and maintenance of the organization's accounting principles, practices, and procedures for its fiscal records and the preparation of its financial reports. They ensure complete documentation of the accounting process with regard to operational revenue streams and how the data is collected and invoiced. They also oversee the purchasing and accounts payable process to ensure accurate coding and payment of expenses.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
  • Establishes major economic objectives and policies for the company and prepares reports that outline the company's financial position in the areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and future operations.
  • Develops, analyzes, and interprets statistical and accounting information to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the company.
  • Manages and evaluates the personnel in the Accounting Department, cross-training staff and mentoring managers to foster a culture that reflects the values of the company.
  • Reviews account analyses and reconciliations performed by accountants.
  • Ensures that financial statements are accurate and complete.
  • Works with the Operations team to answer questions and provide information to assist them in the running of the day-to-day business.
  • Responsible for financial system upkeep and modifications.
  • Establishes and maintains systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems.
  • Coordinates with external auditors to ensure audits are performed to industry standards.
  • Ensures best practices are followed with regard to documentation of all accounting processes.
