South Asheville Veterinary Emergency & Specialty (SAVES)-formerly known as Upstate Veterinary Specialty Pet Hospital - Asheville-is on an exciting growth journey, and we're looking for a passionate clinician to join our exceptional team!
We're under new management, prioritizing innovation, collaboration, and top-tier patient care. Our human trained sonographer is on board to enhance diagnostic capabilities, giving you the support you need to excel in your specialty. Our brand-new, 34,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility is designed to provide the best care possible.
With cutting-edge tools, you'll have everything you need to practice at the highest level, including:
- 1.5 T GE MRI & 64 slice GE CT scanner
- Interventional radiology suite with fluoroscopy
- Designated neurosurgery suite
- Onsite blood bank
- Dedicated neurology coordinator

In your day to day, you will:• Balance time between consultations, case workups, and surgical procedures
• Perform orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries using available imaging and surgical equipment
• Collaborate with other specialties to support integrated case management
• Help shape and grow the surgical service in line with hospital priorities
• Work alongside a dedicated surgical nursing and support team
• Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners throughout the surgical process
• Contribute to a positive, team focused hospital culture built on collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning
What You Bring• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure
• Board Certification in Surgery (DACVS) or completion of a surgical residency
• Strong surgical skills and a commitment to exceptional patient care
• Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client centered approach
• A collaborative mindset and interest in working closely with emergency, critical care, and other specialty services
• A passion for continuous learning, teamwork, teaching, and advancing specialty medicine
• Interest in leadership and helping develop and grow a surgical service is welcomed
