Kind of Work Professional, supervisory, administrative and technical work directing and overseeing plumbing plan review, permitting, inspections and code enforcement activities to ensure compliance with applicable plumbing codes and regulations. Work includes supervising plumbing inspectors and related staff, providing technical guidance on code compliance, overseeing enforcement and inspection activities, maintaining related records, recommending updates to codes and procedures, and related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications1. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. *
2. Six (6) years of full-time experience doing technical building inspectional work with two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity over licensed plumbers.
* Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify qualifying certification, license and education credentials claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification. If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification.NOTE: If appointed, employee must be certified by the International Code Council (ICC) as either a Certified Building Official or a Master Code Professional. In lieu of certification by the ICC, employee can also be either a Louisiana licensed Architect or a Louisiana Licensed Engineer, complete with the respective professional experience for those licenses. This requirement must be met during the probationary period. No probationary period may last longer than one year. If employees do not meet this requirement during their probationary period, they must wait one year from the end of their probationary period or receive certification to be considered for rehire.
NOTE:Domicile requirements are currently waived for the purpose of application**. Residency requirements are waived for all Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans positions vacant and advertised for at least 90 days. Employees hired under this waiver remain exempt from the city's residency requirement for the duration of their employment at the Sewerage and Water Board. (La R.S. 33:4076). **Additional exceptions to the domicile requirement may be made on a case-by-case basis. Kind of Examination A rating of training and experience, weighted 100%. All related previous experience will be considered for qualification purposes; however, credit on the rating of training and experience will only be given for experience gained within the last ten (10) years.
