Overview

About the Role

Responsible for implementation and/or maintenance of Active Directory. Manages the operation of Active Directory and client server-based applications. Provides network and PC systems coordination and integration for services with acceptable University Hospital policies and procedures. Responsible for the tasks in support of day-to-day Servers, Active Directory and applications and related clinical departments.

Recommends, develops, configures, installs, monitors, and supports University Hospital server hardware and software for client server-based computer systems. Assists with ensuring the availability of client/server applications, configuring new implementations, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management and maintenance of Active Directory. Assists in maintaining the security, integrity, and safety of the Active Directory, data center and servers. Diagnoses, resolves, and documents hardware and software network problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training and support where required.

  • Evaluates and installs Active Directory, related software, operating system software and applicatio
  • Provides server management on hardware and software.
  • Conducts problem analysis of Active Directory software and hardware problems, finding the resolution of server related software problems, local area network server installation and configuration; administers security and backup procedures for servers; participates in software and hardware evaluation.
  • Maintains technologies (including but not limited to Active Directory, Group Policy, etc.) to insure server security; conducts research on server hardware, software, and protocols in support of procurement and development efforts, and provides recommendations to senior Server Administrators.
  • Maintains, troubleshoots, and administers the use of, server networks, computer workstations, connections to the internet and peripheral equipment.
  • Configures, maintains, and operates master consoles to monitor the performance of servers and networks and to coordinate access and use of computer networks.
  • Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and upgrades web-server hardware and software.
  • Deploys and manages virtual machines (VMs) using VMware vSphere and vCenter templates.
  • Monitors virtual environments including ESXi host health, CPU/memory resource utilization, and data store capacity.
  • Manages VM snapshots and basic provisioning tasks during scheduled maintenance windows.
  • Assists with storage and backup environments, ensuring virtual machine backups complete successfully.
  • Assists with enterprise storage management, monitoring fabric connectivity, capacity, and performance indicators across Fibre Channel SAN environments.
  • Aids senior administrators in routine provisioning tasks, host registration, and health monitoring within Dell PowerMax and Pure Storage management arrays.


Qualifications

What You'll Bring

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Math or Electrical Engineering, or other related field.
  • Three (3) years of related work experience in Information Technology and experience with Windows servers and operating systems.
  • Hands-on technical knowledge of server and PC operating systems, including Active Directory, Windows Servers.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining server hardware and associated equipment. General knowledge of storage technologies such as SAN.
  • Knowledgeable of database requirements for high availability, multi-function environments.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments, and the general public.
  • Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirements.


Preferred:
  • Knowledge of PowerShell scripting to automate Active Directory tasks and strong knowledge of Group Policy creation is preferred.
  • Strong working experience with hardware, server OS, Active Directory, Group Policies, etc. Certification in MCP, MOS, MTA, MCSE or MCSA preferred.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is PS28S: Min. $82,013 Mid. $99,005 - Max. $118,046 per year, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
