Role summary:

The Senior Manager, Advanced Analytics leads the strategy, development, and execution of external data initiatives that drive merchandising and enterprise decision-making. This role oversees external data vendor partnerships, research and development roadmaps, data testing, and data quality/analytics reporting. The position is responsible for evaluating and justifying business use cases for external data investments while representing the organization in cross-functional research and collaboration efforts. By coordinating alignment across enterprise teams and advancing analytical capabilities, this leader helps accelerate innovation, validate data opportunities, and deliver actionable insights that support long-term business objectives.
About the team:

The Merchandising Decision Sciences External Data team is responsible for identifying, acquiring, and maximizing the value of external data assets that support Walmart's strategic priorities. The team partners with vendors, business stakeholders, data science, and enterprise organizations to evaluate emerging data opportunities, develop research and development roadmaps, and establish scalable data solutions. Through advanced analytics, testing, reporting, and governance practices, the team enables informed decision-making across the organization. Focused on innovation and collaboration, the team ensures external data investments deliver measurable business value while supporting future analytical and operational capabilities.
What you'll do:

What you'll bring:
  • Expertise in advanced analytics, data exploration, and business problem solving using large and complex datasets.
  • Expert-level SQL skills and strong experience working with modern cloud-based data platforms.
  • Proven experience developing data visualizations, reporting solutions, and executive-level business insights.
  • Strong understanding of external data acquisition, evaluation, testing, and vendor management processes.
  • Experience building business cases, investment justifications, and strategic recommendations for leadership.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and influence skills, with experience partnering across business, analytics, and technology organizations.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
