What you'll do...
Role summary:

As a Data Engineer III at Walmart, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures that support business analytics and decision-making. Leveraging expertise in data modeling, integration, and transformation, you will ensure data quality, accessibility, and compliance with regulatory standards. This role requires collaboration across multiple business domains to translate complex requirements into effective data solutions. You will contribute to advancing data governance practices and support the implementation of enterprise data strategies, driving innovation and operational excellence within a dynamic, data-driven environment.
What you'll do:
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to support business analytics and reporting needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data requirements and translate them into effective data models and solutions.
  • Implement data integration and ingestion strategies using cloud and big data technologies such as Apache Spark and data lakes.
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance with regulatory standards throughout the data lifecycle.
  • Optimize data storage, transformation, and retrieval processes to enhance performance and scalability.
  • Develop and test code for data processing, supporting deployment and documentation efforts.
  • Stay current with emerging data engineering trends and best practices to drive continuous improvement.

What you'll bring:
  • Extensive experience in data engineering across multiple platforms.
  • Strong proficiency in Scala and Spark for data processing, analytics, and building scalable pipelines.
  • Practical experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services such as BigQuery, GCS, and Dataproc, along with near real-time data ingestion using Kafka and Spark Structured Streaming.
  • Strong working knowledge of both SQL and NoSQL systems, with an in-depth understanding of data warehousing concepts and best practices.
  • Proficiency in Git/version control, CI/CD pipelines, workflow schedulers like Airflow, and working with large-scale datasets.
  • Familiarity with BI/visualization tools like Tableau or Looker. • Hands-on exposure to Generative AI (GenAI) and Agentic AI is a strong plus!

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
