  • Ensure adherence to Vault Minerals' geotechnical practices and mining sequence
  • Monitor compliance with ground support standards QA/QC
  • Develop and implement ground support standards
  • Update the Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP)
  • Conduct QA/QC programs in line with the GCMP
  • Review and interpret geotechnical data to propose best practices
  • Design and recommend safe stope mining sequences

Technical Responsibilities, challenges and Role Accountabilities

  • Understand the LOM strategies and the mining sequence and ensure the Vault Minerals best geotechnical practices are upheld.
  • Monitor the ground support standard compliance QA/QC
  • Review, develop and implement Ground support standards.
  • Review and update the mine Ground Control Management Plan, GCMP
  • Ensure the QA/QC programs are conducted to comply with the GCMP.
  • Review, interpret geotechnical data and advise the operations on better practices
  • Assess geotechnical strategies for ground stability hazards to optimize safe ore recovery
  • Design, analyze and recommend safe and economical stope mining sequence
  • Update the geotechnical designs based on daily operational requirements
  • Professionally, coach and train junior and intermediate mining engineering staff
  • Evaluate ground support material requirements and inventory


Required Education, Skills and Experience, qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mining or Geological engineering with practical experience
  • Master's Degree in Rock Mechanics with experience is considered an asset
  • Strong and Proficiency numerical modelling using Map3D and Rocscience software
  • Experience in using Deswik.CAD
  • Strong communication (written, listening, oral) and Presentation skills
  • Experience using underground ground control instrumentations would be an asset
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and attention to detail
  • Ensure regulatory standards regarding safety and environmental requirements remain in compliance
  • Demonstrated experience working with others, good overall communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Spearhead on Rock Mechanics continuous improvement projects for the mine
