Brice Construction & Design LLC

Regular

This is an evergreen position, meaning we accept applications year-round and review them on a rolling basis as new opportunities become available.

Pay Range: $100,000 - $130,000

What can you expect?

As the Underground Foreman, you will work onsite in Houston, TX and the surrounding areas and will be responsible for managing the entire underground utility project construction crew by directing work, reviewing schedules, ensuring the work is completed following plan specifications, and planning equipment needs. This position will be required to enforce the Company's direction, policies, procedures, and safety standards. The incumbent should have experience with underground utility projects.

How will you do it?
  • Execute work plans and schedules following contract requirements, plans, and specifications.
  • Coordinating daily tasks according to priorities and plans, making changes when necessary due to weather, supply, delivery, and personnel.
  • Providing adequate resources and staffing to meet project schedules, laws, regulations, best practices, and safety needs.
  • Regularly reporting project status to supervisors, site engineers, and other officials.
  • Coordinate materials and equipment delivery with vendors and suppliers.
  • Create schedules for workers and subcontractors.
  • Maintain a daily log for the job site's operations, reporting to management as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate reporting records including job quantities, productivity rates, timesheets, and daily management reports.
  • Responsible for timely completion of work assignments within the estimated costs.
  • Continuously check the work of the crew and adjust the work or plan and schedule as required with notification to project management staff.
  • Assist with various skilled trades and general construction duties as part of the construction crew leader to complete the project at hand.
  • Ensure adherence to field project processes and standard operating procedures among team members.
  • Assist with overseeing the work of project crews by providing leadership, training and development, promoting positive morale, and ensuring safe work practices are consistently followed.
  • Responsible for conducting oneself in the best interest of the company while on the job or representing Brice.
  • Responsible for reporting any incident, situation, or activity that may affect the company's ability to operate safely, ethically, and profitably to the Field Civil Superintendent or Site Project Manager.
  • Ensure projects are executed safely and in accordance with contract requirements and company policies.
  • Actively support and promote the Company's Health and Safety Program.
  • Monitor site compliance and safety audit results and suspend or modify work practices as directed by the Project Management Team.
  • Verify that all required safety equipment is available, properly maintained, and used in accordance with project and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain any required certifications mandatory by law or company policy.
  • Work as a "team-player" with co-workers in a respectful and supportive manner.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as directed.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position supervises and directs the underground utilities craft workers and subcontractors.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Advance knowledge of various field construction concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Advance knowledge of materials, terms, and practices in the construction field.
  • Advance experience with reading plans and understanding tasks at hand.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Skilled in organizing resources, establishing priorities, meeting deadlines, and general time management.
  • Strong leadership skills: ability to take initiative and lead a work crew.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, take direction from supervisor(s), high degree of attention to detail, follow work rules, and adhere to project schedule.
  • Customer-service skills to communicate with inspectors and administration to develop a positive working relationship.
  • Decision-making skills for selecting personnel and subcontractors for specific tasks and jobs to meet deadlines and budgets.
  • Time-management skills to meet deadlines and ensure construction phases are completed on time so that the next phase can start.
  • Writing skills for writing budgets, proposals, and plans along with documenting work progress for clients and others involved.
  • Ability to work productively under pressure.
  • Strong self-motivation and work ethic; ability to work with or without direct supervision.
  • Ability to participate in group meetings.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and effectively plan and organize duties to meet deadlines.


Who is Brice Construction & Design LLC looking for?

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Five (5) years' experience in the civil construction field.
  • Three (3) years' experience supervising a construction crew as Foreman or Lead.
  • Valid state driver's license and must be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Company's Driving Policy.
  • Ability to pass a drug, driving, and background screening.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of scheduling, material control, unit manhour performance, estimating fundamentals, and job cost management systems preferred.
  • Experience with underground utility management experience preferred.
  • OSHA 30-hour training completion preferred.


Working Environment:

Brice Construction & Design has a fast-paced multi-tasking office environment requiring a high degree of efficient and effective performance. At times, work is performed outside of the office at indoor and outdoor job sites. Adaptability regarding schedule and design changes and occasional overtime for immediate field support or bid processing may be necessary.
