Ultrasound Technologist Instructor

The Ultrasound Technologist Instructor assists the Program Director in the planning, management, and implementation of the Ultrasound Technologist Program in support of institutional and departmental goals. This role supports compliance with programmatic accreditation and applicable regulatory standards, ensures curriculum consistency, and contributes to positive student learning and graduate employment outcomes.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Develops, plans, and delivers didactic, laboratory, and/or clinical instruction in Ultrasound Technology in accordance with approved curricula and syllabi.
  • Evaluates student performance through written, oral, and practical assessments; provides timely feedback and remediation as needed.
  • Supervises laboratory activities, scanning competencies, simulations, and clinical or field placements, as applicable.
  • Promotes critical thinking, professional communication, and clinical decision-making skills.

 

Preferred Education, Certifications and Licensures

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Education, or a related healthcare field.

Preferred Experience and SkillsRequired Education, Certifications, and Licensures

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Ultrasound Technology, or a closely related field from an institution accredited by a regional accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).
  • Current credential in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related specialty (e.g., ARDMS/Ab/Ob, RVT 0r ARRT[S], ), appropriate to the courses taught.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Minimum of three (3) years of full-time, post-credential clinical experience as a practicing diagnostic medical sonographer.
  • Experience with multiple ultrasound specialties (e.g., Abdomen, OB/GYN or Vascular).
  • Prior didactic and/or clinical teaching experience in an ultrasound education or clinical training environment.
  • Demonstrated contemporary expertise in diagnostic medical sonography, reflecting current clinical practice, technology, and professional standards relevant to assigned teaching areas.
