Full Job Description
The UAS Red Team Pilot will perform operational responsibilities for commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) fixed-wing and rotary UAS platforms and supporting systems. Duties include gathering intelligence for mission planning, operating mission sensors and payloads, and launching, remotely piloting, and recovering remotely piloted ground and air vehicle systems. The successful candidate must be available and willing to deploy to the CENTCOM area of responsibility (AOR) for 6-12 months at a time, rotating with other deployers.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with DoD UAS system policies and procedures.
  • Support aircrew training and monitor and update aircrew documentation and flight jackets.
  • Maintain currency requirements in accordance with Government Flight Representative (GFR) directives.
  • Acquire, fabricate, modify, program, and maintain multi-rotor and fixed-wing COTS UAS platforms, including Group 3 systems and turbines, for training and test events.
  • Launch and recover air vehicles and perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks.
  • Travel CONUS and OCONUS, including to possible conflict areas, on short notice to disseminate relevant threat information.
  • Assist with vulnerability site assessments to inform the analyst team about possible UAS use.
  • Coordinate with national and international intelligence agencies to develop data-sharing capabilities, trend analysis, and procedures.
  • Plan and coordinate flight operations and serve as the safety officer during training and test events.
  • Provide comprehensive technical red-team analysis.
  • Perform all functional duties independently.
  • Work and live effectively in a small-team environment.


Required Qualifications
  • Experience with DCMA Instruction 8210, HQDA 228-24, and AR 95-1.
  • Active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Experience instructing large groups of junior and senior personnel in a military environment.
  • Bachelor's degree with 0-3 years of experience; associate degree with 4 years of experience; or high school diploma/GED with 6 years of experience.
  • Experience with COTS multi-rotor and fixed-wing aircraft, including hobbyist UAS experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting pre-deployment training and knowledge exchanges for field training exercises (FTXs), Validation Exercises (VALEX), and other technical exchange events.
  • Must be able to obtain an FAA Remote Pilot Certificate.
  • Must be able to successfully complete the Continental United States Replacement Center (CRC) requirements and deploy to the CENTCOM theater.
  • Must be able to obtain an Amateur Radio Technician Class license.
  • Experience with remotely piloted vehicles (RPVs) across land, air, and sea domains, with the ability to design and fabricate systems using limited instructions or pre-built kits.
  • Ability to research emerging RPV technologies, describe their advantages, and assess their impact on DoD capabilities.
  • Knowledge of the Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP).
  • Ability to translate technical RPV knowledge into effective instruction regarding technology, capabilities, limitations, and impacts on DoD capabilities.
  • Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office applications and intelligence-related automation used to support analytical efforts and product development.
  • Ability to define and execute test or training scenarios in which RPV technology can be utilized.
  • Ability to understand and interpret customer requirements and influence the appropriate use of RPV technology at technical exchange or test events.
  • Ability to work independently at other locations while interacting effectively with other organizations and military units.
  • Ability to communicate and function effectively in a team environment.
