Full Job Description
Job Summary:

The Turnaround Planner/Scheduler is responsible for planning and scheduling planned maintenance turnarounds, planned catalyst change outages, planned tank maintenance, and special projects. The Planner/Scheduler primarily utilizes Primavera P6 for detailed planning and scheduling activities in support of executing planned refinery maintenance shutdowns to ensure safety, schedule adherence, budget compliance, and quality.

Essential Functions:
  • Be proficient in Primavera P6 planning and scheduling software.
  • Develop and maintain detailed Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) in Primavera P6 that align Scope, work packages, execution sequencing and schedule control requirements.
  • Resource-Load and cost-load turnaround schedules to support manpower planning, budget alignment, forecasting and development of an approved baseline.
  • Establish, maintain and status schedule baselines; evaluate schedule, resource and cost variances and support recovery or mitigation planning as required.
  • Scope development for Turnarounds and Special Projects.
  • Ensure Inspection & Quality control standards in compliance with industry standards and practices.
  • Regulatory inspection scheduling and execution.
  • Identify and coordinate purchasing required equipment, tools, services, and materials.
  • Supports the scope development process by integrating information from PSM, Environmental, Mechanical Integrity/Inspection, Operations, Maintenance, Reliability Project Engineering, Technical Support, Instrumentation, Electrical and Rotating Equipment teams.
  • Responsible for planning and scheduling activities in support of planned maintenance outages.
  • Acts as a liaison between turnaround and operations groups to ensure the Turnaround worklists are all-inclusive and contain scope that can only be done during Turnarounds.
  • Supports the Turnaround Additional Work Request (AWR) Process, ensuring all work that is added after scope freeze is identified and estimated prior to inclusion in the Turnaround scope.
  • Champion continuous improvement by implementing lessons learned and improving existing work processes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Proficient with Primavera Project Planner
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Other Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the daily workflow and timely field updates from field personnel (both employees and contractors).

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 8+ years of refinery or petrochemical plant turnaround planning and scheduling required


Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking
  • Must be able to pass a physical test of pushing, pulling, and lifting a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time
  • Requires frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching
  • Must be able to climb ladders and or stairs on tanks, vessels and structures; wear respirator; work around equipment containing high pressures and temperatures and various chemicals
  • Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring equipment and materials
