The Triage Nurse is an integral part of the team primarily responsible for managing compliance of state and college health requirements; administering immunizations and other injectables; triaging students on the phone and in person; assisting clinical staff with prescription refills, phlebotomy, laboratory results, and other nursing procedures; managing student travel health services; participating in health outreach activities; creating digital and printed materials for students and staff; and assisting with front desk coverage when needed.
Health Services is part of the Student Success Portfolio in the Division of Learner Success and Campus Life, which also includes Accessibility Services, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Student Advising & Success, Wellness & Prevention Services, the Peers On Wellness (POW) peer health education program, and the Campus Assessment, Response, & Evaluation (CARE) Team.
WHAT YOU WILL DO- Manages immunization compliance for students in accordance with Massachusetts State Laws and Babson requirements. This includes corresponding with students about the immunization requirements; following up on missing immunizations; entering immunization data; and placing holds on student's accounts who have not complied with the requirements.
- Performs phlebotomy, other specimen collection, point of care testing, suture removal, nebulizer treatments, and wound care.
- Communicates with the Graduate School, Olin College, and other campus partners regarding students' immunization status.
- Administers immunizations and assists with ordering and maintaining immunization inventory.
- Communicates with Health & Wellness, Olin College, and the Graduate School on flu or other immunization clinics; plans and runs the clinics, which includes administering vaccines at events.
- Manages and promotes the student travel health program by effectively communicating and coordinating with various Babson and Olin College departments about travel health services for educational, philanthropic, and personal trips.
- Triages students calling and presenting to Health Services during the day without an appointment.
- Responsible for medication reconciliation and quality control of medical devices.
- Follows up with students who utilize off campus emergency services.
- Assists the Office Manager in processing medical record requests.
- Assumes additional responsibilities as required.
As needed- Assists clinicians with prescription refills.
- Assists students with making appointments with area specialists.
- Reviews laboratory results and alerts providers to results needing urgent attention.
- Procures lab specimens, conducts point of care testing, and prepares samples for transport to the contracted lab as needed.
- Responsible for front desk coverage when the Office Manager is out of the office.
- Collaborates with other members of the Health & Wellness team on various outreach programs and prevention initiatives.
- Assumes additional responsibilities as required.

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEEDMust be a Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing ProgramA minimum of
3-5 years of previous work as a registered nurse.Must hold a current RN license in the State of Massachusetts and be CPR certified.Must have Hepatitis B vaccination and training in compliance with OSHA regulations; must maintain both throughout time in the position.Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Must have a passion for college health with knowledge of student development.
Flexibility and the ability to multitask in a busy office setting is required.
Must have knowledge of state immunization laws and experience with immunization administration, medical treatments, and medications for travel health.Must have experience with electronic medical records and scheduling.
Ability to work with a diverse population.
Ability to ensure confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations.Must have strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Outlook.

HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORKMust be able to sit, walk, and stand for prolonged periods of time.
Occasionally requires the ability to assist a patient to stand or walk.
Daily exposure to communicable diseases through direct contact and through handling of biological specimens will be minimized by strict adherence to OSHA regulations, office procedures and the use of personal protective equipment.
Scheduled weekly hours are onsite 35 hours a week; shifts are Mondays - Thursdays between the hours of 10:30 am - 6:30 pm and Fridays from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm; summer and school break hours are 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
Occasional availability outside of regular hours for scheduled events such as flu clinics and new student orientation sessions.
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), who by virtue of their College responsibilities and under the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act, is an individual to which students and employees should report criminal offenses. A CSA shall forward all reports in accordance with the College's reporting structure so they may be assessed for timely warning, inclusion in the daily crime log and inclusion in annual statistical disclosures.

- Experience with Medicat One electronic medical record system a plus.
- Travel health experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Massachusetts Immunization Information System (MIIS) a plus.
This is an exempt position with the following pay range: $88,535 - $98,372; the role is also eligible for bonuses based on performance and budget.
