Job Description:

Overview:

The Transportation Planning Manager will lead the development and coordination of transportation plans for state and local governments.  This position will play a pivotal role inidentifyingand addressing diverse transportation needs including transit, non-motorized options, safety enhancements, and sustainability measures.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage client coordination efforts, ensuring effective communication and understanding of transportationobjectives.

  • Create comprehensive public involvement plans, overseeing sub-consultant teams, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations tofacilitatecommunity engagement.

  • Execute strategies for effective community outreach and participation in transportation planning initiatives.

  • Identifyand cultivate client opportunities, involving marketing efforts, RFQ response development, and the formation of a dedicated team to support these initiatives.

  • Lead design teams working on various projects, including but not limited to complete streets, cycle tracks, and multimodal conversions.

  • Ensure adherence to projectobjectivesand timelines, maintaininghigh-quality standards in all design outputs.

  • Coordinate planning projects with clients, focusing on defined goals andobjectivesrelated to mobility, safety, multimodal transportation, community livability, and economic development.

  • Lead efforts to secure project development funds, including federal and state opportunities.

  • Assistclients in leveragingtransit, bike, pedestrian, safety, and other project parameters to enhance eligibility for funding opportunities.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field. 

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in transportation planning with or ability to obtain, ACIP 

  • Proven experience in turnkey creation of regional and local corridor assessments, transportation, and land use analysis, including policy recommendations and investment priorities.

  • Expertisein data analysis using tools such as ESRIandTableauto propose transportation planning studies compliant with federal, state, and local requirements.

  • Demonstrated experience with transportation planning funds and grant acquisition for the development of long-range plans.

  • Proficient use and knowledge of design guidelines and standards, including AASHTO, PROWAG, ADA, TxDOT, and MUTCD, to ensure successful project implementation.

  • Strong project management skills, coupled with excellent communication and presentation abilities.

  • Comfortable with public speaking and presenting ideas to diverse audiences.

  • Mustpossessa valid driverlicense.

  • Occasional travel throughout the state of Texas to attend client meetings isrequired.

  • Ability to work Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm with overtime as needed.
