Join our growing team in Kentucky as a Transportation Drainage Engineer and help shape the future of transportation infrastructure across the region. Lexington, KY is the preferred location for this role, but Louisville, KY will be considered for an experienced candidate. You'll work on a variety of projects including drainage design of roadways, expressways, innovative intersections, and transit facilities-projects that keep communities connected and moving forward.
You'll collaborate with a talented, multidisciplinary team to develop innovative, high-quality designs and contract plans that meet state and federal standards. Your Key Responsibilities
- Build strong relationships with clients, partners, and project teams to keep communication open and projects moving.
- Lead and coordinate tasks with fellow engineers and technicians, working together to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Gather and analyze the data that drives smarter, more sustainable drainage design for transportation projects.
- Perform and review drainage calculations, studies, and reports that shape key project decisions.
- Take part in project meetings and share your insights to help guide technical discussions.
- Contribute to proposals and technical documentation that win and deliver great projects.
- Follow established design and documentation standards while helping improve team workflows.
- Support client and stakeholder communication with professionalism and attention to detail.
- Play an active role in business development, deliver top-quality results, provide excellent service, and help strengthen client relationships.
- Collaborate with project managers to coordinate efforts between clients, subconsultants, and internal teams.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Proficiency with MicroStation.
- Experience with ORD Drainage, HEC-RAS (including scour analysis), STORMCAD, HY-8, and other drainage software used by the KYTC Highway Design Drainage Branch highly preferred.
- Strong teamwork skills with the flexibility to adapt and collaborate across multiple projects.
- Excellent communication, multitasking, and attention to detail.
- Eagerness to learn new technologies and collaborate with multiple project managers in a dynamic environment.
- OpenRoads Designer experience is a plus but not required.
Education and Experience
- Completion of a four (4) year college level academic program in Civil Engineering with a Bachelor of Science degree is mandatory. A minimum of five (5) years of experience.
- EIT registration required, PE license is preferred.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
