WSP is currently initiating a search for a Transportation Director/Local Business Lead (LBL) for the South Puget Sound geography, based in Tacoma. The candidate will play a key strategic leadership role in the Mountain Pacific Region as we continue to strengthen and expand our Transportation practice. WSP is playing a critical role in the growth and development throughout the state of Washington, specifically with key public agencies such as the Washington Department of Transportation (WSDOT), Pierce County, the City of Tacoma, and many others. The South Sound LBL will work in coordination with and as a partner to the North Puget Sound LBL. The LBL role also is a leader in leveraging cross collaboration with the National Business Lines (NBL-including Maritime, Aviation, Rail, etc.) other WSP business lines such as Property and Buildings (P&B), Energy, Water, Federal, Advisory Services, and PMCM to bring value to our clients.

• Drives performance of the transportation business and strategically grows our market share to fulfill our goal that WSP become the preferred, trusted advisor to our clients.
• Manages local client coordination and cross-selling efforts in coordination with Region, District, National Business Lines, and Pursuit Management.
• Integrates as the "face of the company" locally and across the State of Nevada, attending civic and industry events, conferences, and forums ranging from ACEC, WTS, APWA, Chamber of Commerce, and many more.
• Brings an expanded view and integrated response to complex challenges by leveraging our full suite of offerings across all end markets.
• Utilizes our extended reach of technical and subject matter experts (SMEs) across regions, districts, offices and the globe to foster new and innovative client delivery.

Operational Excellence

• Optimizes the client and employee experience through regular reviews while embracing process improvement.

• Develops local growth, forecast and business development strategy in collaboration with District, Region and National Business Line Leaders.
• Resolves conflict and other internal/external issues that may arise in the office, amongst WSP's client base, or on projects.
• Collaborates with regional, district leaders and other area leaders to strategically drive the business, assess and suggest improvements for project performance, oversee overhead expenditures, and focus on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Sales, Funding, EBITDA, Staff Hiring and Retention, DSO, Utilization, Backlog, Inclusion & Diversity and Guiding Principles.

Expertise

• Leverages our broad technical experience to enhance current and new service offerings.
• Fosters the development of new and emerging innovations to remain the trusted thought leaders in our industry.
• Advances the strategic direction of the district and region in the location of responsibility for sustained and continued growth consistent within the context of the strategic plan.
• Encourages, supports and promotes the technical and professional development of local WSP staff

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 12 years of experience with a college degree or equivalent experience in the A/E/C industry with a strong focus in transportation.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Planning, Business, or related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience of leadership, personal accountability, persistence, and growth.
• Ability to innovate and re-think the conventional approach to client and employee engagement.
• Strong business acumen with an aptitude for improving processes.
• Sound decision-making, strategic and visionary thinking, and creative business development capabilities across a multi-disciplined practice.
• Strongly established relevant client relationships and industry contacts in the local area.
• Commitment to internal and external client service.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $210,000 - $310,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
