Full Job Description
GAI is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer 3 to join our Power Delivery team working remotely based in Homestead, PA. Required skills include transmission line design experience, critical thinking, problem solving, organization, team-focus with the ability to supervise & mentor junior staff, and eagerness to apply learned engineering principles to solve real life problems. The Engineer 3 is responsible for technical leadership and the successful review of client transmission line designs while maintaining the scope, schedule, budget, and quality of projects within GAI's Transmission & Distribution Division. This individual should be technically focused and a strong leader with developed technical, communication, and computer skills.

Competency
  • Knowledge of electric utility transmission line engineering and design.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Complete day-to-day project tasks as required for successful project delivery. Tasks may include:
    • Review and preparation of Specification Packages
    • Review and preparation of Structural and Fabrication Drawings
    • Review, design and Analysis of Transmission Lines using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-Tower is a bonus
    • Review, design and Analysis of foundations.
    • Analysis of existing and proposed structures with regard to Client and Other required codes, standards, and specifications.
    • Performance of Electrical Clearance checks and calculations.
  • Apply engineering principles to assist in the design of Power Delivery Projects.
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Perform complex tasks typically following established processes.
  • Implements effective engineering methods, provides technical guidance, and acts as a resource for engineers and designers.
  • Directly manages projects with no limit to the number or value of individual projects managed.

Training
  • Comprehensive knowledge of transmission line design concepts and principles.
  • Demonstrated track record of external customer engagements and building and maintaining successful client relationships.
  • Required experience with PLS suite (PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE).
  • Preferred experience with PLS-TOWER and FAD Tools.

  • Develops and reviews complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
  • Keeps informed of updates to standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Analyzes complex engineering projects to determine design requirements, uncertainties, and constraints.

Project and Task Management
  • Assigns tasks to other technical and non-technical staff.
  • Predominantly plans and coordinates detailed aspects of the engineering work.
  • Prepares scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
  • Assists with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or projects.
