Job Description

Our Dewberry Pennsylvania offices are seeking a Traffic Engineer/Transportation Planner. We are open to the candidate residing in our Pittsburgh, Mechanicsburg, or Philadelphia Offices. In this position, you'll work on a wide variety of projects, supervise staff in document production, monitor budgets and schedules, market new projects and clients, and prepare proposals.

 

Qualified candidates should have a familiarity with MUTCD and AASHTO; HCM and HCS; Synchro/Sim Traffic Software and similar analysis tools; Traffic Signal design; and PA and other State agencies’ design standards and practices. Candidate will also need the ability to prepare traffic impact studies; develop and assess design and/or operational alternatives; perform roadway and pedestrian safety audits; and develop Transportation Management Plans (TMPs) in accordance with local, state and federal policies and requirements. Experience is required in managing and mentoring of staff, preparing technical and cost proposals, and understanding of QA/QC procedures. The ideal applicant will have excellent oral, written and organizational skills.  Applicants must possess their PE in PA. A PTOE certification is desirable.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Experience with other State DOTs and clients a plus
  • Working knowledge of Transportation Planning principles and practices as applicable to Corridor, Subarea and Local Circulation Studies, Feasibility Studies, and complete streets concepts.
  • Working knowledge of contract plans preparation for all traffic control devices (signals, signing, striping and pavement markings, among others)
