AsGFTcontinues to grow and expand, we are seeking an emergingTraffic/ITS Project Engineerto support ourTransportationGroup in Metro Nashville, TN.This role follows a hybrid work model,requiring a minimum of 3 days of onsite office attendance.

In this role, you27ll apply your technical expertise in traffic analysis, modeling, and roadway design to improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of transportation systems across Tennessee and the Southeast. You27ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop solutions that ease congestion, enhance mobility, and create safer streets for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. From analyzing traffic flow and designing signals to preparing construction documents and supporting field investigations, your work will directly impact the quality of life in the community by making travel safer and more efficient. In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Perform engineering design services throughout the project life-cycle, from concept through construction.
  • Work with lead engineer and other disciplines to prepare appropriate designs, as dictated by the scope of work.
  • Perform engineering analysis related to design, implementation, and operations of ITS elements and sub-systems.
  • Analyze moderate to complex design problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures.
  • Assess the impact of construction and utility work on the ITS infrastructure and develop necessary mitigation measures.
  • Develop engineering drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages.
  • Communicates with clients on task oriented issues and on project issues under the direction of the project manager.
  • Use strong writing skills and engineering planning to develop guidance documents and reports such as systems engineering documents.
  • Interact with clients to relay clear, concise and consistent project related updates.
  • Participate in projects by completing tasks within schedule and budget.
  • Participate in meetings, seminars, conferences, and committees.
  • Perform project site visits and field work.
  • Assist with testing and resolving technical issues during new installations or modifications of ITS field equipment.
What you will bring to our firm:
  • Bachelor27s Degree in Engineering (Civil or Electrical preferred) or relevant discipline
  • Professional Engineer license preferred (at a minimum, you should be on the path to obtain P.E. licensure)
  • 3-527 years27 experience working in a relevant field
  • Traffic signal and/or fiber optic communication system design experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of ITS Architecture is a plus
  • Experience with CADD(e.g., MicroStation)
  • Expertise with MS Office
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Some experience with management of project tasks
  • Strong desire in developing a career in ITS
Compensation:The salary range for this role is $95,000 - $120,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location. Featured Benefits: Hybrid (in-person and remote) work environment.
