Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage traffic engineering design teams.
- Oversee project schedules, budgets, scopes of work, and deliverables.
- Coordinate with clients, public agencies, and internal project teams.
- Prepare and review traffic engineering plans, studies, and technical reports.
- Manage traffic impact analyses and transportation planning projects.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to traffic designers, CAD technicians, and engineering staff.
- Support project development, proposal preparation, and client relationship management.
- Ensure project compliance with applicable transportation standards and regulations.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) required.
- Active California Professional Engineer (PE) Registration in Civil or Traffic Engineering required.
- Minimum 4-5 years of traffic engineering experience or equivalent industry experience of 9-10 years.
- Minimum 3 years of experience managing or supervising traffic engineering teams.
- Experience overseeing project schedules, budgets, contracts, fee proposals, and scopes of work.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships with clients, public agencies, and internal teams.
- Recent Southern California experience required, preferably within San Diego County.
Technical Experience RequiredCandidates should have experience with:
- Municipal traffic engineering services.
- In-house traffic engineering support for public agencies.
- Traffic engineering plans.
- Traffic signal plans.
- Traffic control plans.
- Signing and striping plans.
- Traffic Impact Analysis (TIA).
- Traffic studies and engineering reports.
- Transportation planning and design projects.
Software & Technical KnowledgeExperience with:
Knowledge of:
- California Vehicle Code (CVC)
- Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)
- Highway Capacity Manual (HCM)
Preferred Skills- Strong understanding of traffic engineering principles and transportation planning.
- Experience working directly with municipalities and government agencies.
- Proven ability to manage multiple transportation projects simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to mentor and lead engineering teams.
