About the Position

The primary role of the Traffic Engineer for ATS Traffic is to perform all engineering responsibilities associated with Traffic Design and Traffic Management. This position will also be a Responsible Member for ATS Traffic's Permit to Practice with APEGA and other Canadian provincial engineering regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance to our Traffic Design Team.
  • Review and stamp Traffic Accommodation/Control Plans or Traffic Accommodation Strategies.
  • Prepare and/or review and stamp Traffic Accommodation Strategies.
  • Act as Project Manager for complex traffic jobs.
  • Serve as the company's Responsible Member for APEGA and other Canadian provincial engineering regulatory bodies.
  • Responsible for the completion and maintenance of the company's Professional Practice Management Plan (PPMP).
  • Ensure that engineering professional membership status is practicing and in good standing.
  • Support and train traffic design technicians as needed; as well as Engineers-In-Training pursuing their Professional Designation.
  • Lead the Design Team in generating new sources of revenue through other engineering services, including but not limited to, traffic impact assessments, detour design, intersection improvements, pedestrian safety improvement, parking lot design.
  • Provide active coordination with traffic design technicians so drawings can be revised quickly to meet customer timelines.
  • Ensure that engineering approval of traffic plans or strategies are completed in a timely manner to meet customer deadlines.
  • Be a liaison between ATS Traffic and customers on large traffic setups.
  • Contribute to the Traffic Design Team's continuous improvement endeavors.
  • Help resolve obstacles, challenges and disputes on traffic control projects.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (major in Transportation or Traffic Engineering).
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta and eligible for registration with other Canadian provincial engineering regulatory bodies
  • Minimum 5+ years of related transportation or traffic engineering work experience in Canada.
  • Previous experience working on projects with BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors, Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways, Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation, Ontario Ministry of Transportation, will be considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in utilizing AutoCAD and other engineering software typically associated with engineering is required
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is considered an asset.
  • Works well under pressure and tight deadlines.
