Crawford, Murphy & Tilly is seeking a
Traffic Civil Engineer III in our St. Louis office to support transportation projects that improve safety, mobility, and connectivity throughout the communities we serve.
This role is ideal for an engineer seeking expanded technical responsibility, exposure to a wide variety of transportation and development projects and continued professional growth within a collaborative Surface Transportation practice.
As a
Traffic Engineer III, you'll collaborate with engineers, planners, environmental scientists, technicians, clients, and public and private agency partners to develop transportation solutions that enhance safety, operations, and overall system performance. You will contribute to traffic engineering studies, transportation planning efforts, roadway design projects, safety analyses, and multimodal transportation initiatives while continuing to expand your technical expertise, project delivery experience, and professional growth.
What you will do:
- Support traffic engineering and transportation projects.
- Prepare traffic and safety studies.
- Perform traffic operations and safety analyses
- Assist with roadway and multimodal transportation design
- Develop technical reports, exhibits, and project deliverables
- Utilize traffic engineering and design software
- Participate in client meetings and project coordination activities
- Collaborate with engineers, planners, and project teams
- Support field reviews, data collection, and traffic observations
- Contribute to project schedules, budgets, and deliverables
- Support transportation planning and infrastructure initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned
Here is what you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
- 2 - 6 years of demonstrated experience in civil or transportation engineering
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
- Knowledge and experience performing traffic and safety studies
- Knowledge and experience supporting roadway design projects
- Knowledge and experience with traffic engineering software and analysis tools such as VISSIM and SYNCHRO
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to work both in the office and in the field as required
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to support project, client, or stakeholder needs
Ideally, you will also have:- Ability to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) license within 24 months
- Experience in MicroStation ORD
- Experience in Safety (HSM) analysis
- Experience with traffic signal design
- Desire to develop innovative traffic engineering solutions and concept designs

The expected compensation range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000 annually. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on numerous factors, including but not limited to individual education, qualifications, prior work experience, and geographic location.
