Overview

The Trade Supervisor is responsible for directing and coordinating the daily activities of skilled trade personnel to ensure maintenance and project work is completed safely, efficiently, and to established quality standards. This role provides hands-on leadership, technical oversight, and workflow management across multiple trades, supporting reliable facility operations and mission-critical requirements. The Trade Supervisor ensures compliance with safety regulations, contract requirements, and company policies while maintaining a productive and well-organized work environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate a team of skilled trade professionals such as electricians, plumbers, carpenters, welders, HVAC technicians, and general maintenance staff.
  • Assign daily tasks, manage work schedules, and ensure timely completion of maintenance and project activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to trade personnel, assisting with troubleshooting and complex repairs when needed.
  • Monitor work quality, verify adherence to specifications, and ensure compliance with applicable codes, safety standards, and organizational procedures.
  • Conduct routine inspections of work areas, equipment, and completed tasks to maintain high performance and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, labor hours, materials used, and equipment status.
  • Support preventive maintenance programs and coordinate corrective actions as required.
  • Promote a safe work environment by enforcing safety practices, conducting safety briefings, and ensuring proper use of tools and PPE.
  • Communicate effectively with leadership, providing updates on work progress, staffing needs, and operational concerns.
  • Assist in training and developing trade personnel to strengthen team capability and performance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND LICENSURE:
  • Active Secret Clearance (or ability to obtain and maintain).
  • Bachelor's degree in a facilities management-related discipline or equivalent years of experience in trade supervision
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supervising skilled trades in commercial, industrial, or government facilities.
  • Strong technical knowledge in one or more skilled trades, with the ability to oversee multiple disciplines.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in documenting work activities and maintaining accurate records.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prior experience in the supervision of a workforce responsible for operations, maintenance, and repair of commercial building infrastructure systems.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able be able to conduct preventative maintenance activities and minor repairs from ladders or elevated platforms.
  • Work requires the incumbent to walk, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in uncomfortable positions.
  • Ability to lift, carry and set up tools, equipment and parts that weigh up to and occasionally over fifty (50) pounds.
  • Must be comfortable getting dirty, dusty, and greasy in an indoor or outdoor environment with frequent exposure to excessive noise.
  • Must be able to perform duties under adverse weather conditions (extreme cold / heat, etc.).
  • Must be able to work alternate shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements of the customer, to include weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to perform on-call duties when scheduled and report to work within one hour of notification.

WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE:

Secret or higher security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS:

As a condition of employment, must pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results.
