Trade Compliance Manager

Hearth & Home Technologies is looking for a Trade Compliance Manager to join our team in Lakeville, MN. We are the nation's leading manufacturer and supplier of hearth products, including a wide variety of gas, electric, wood and pellet burning fireplaces, inserts, stoves, and accessories. Headquartered in Lakeville, Minnesota, with distribution around the world, our innovative culture is supported by a business unit structure that allows us to develop and market products with a strong focus on customers' needs. As the Trade Compliance Manager, you will lead import and export compliance programs that help protect the company's lawful privileges and interests as an international business. This role works closely with suppliers, customers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal HHT teams to support compliant, efficient movement of products through the international supply chain.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead HHT's global trade compliance strategy, protecting the business while supporting international growth and supply chain excellence
  • Provide expert guidance on trade regulations, customs requirements, and international agreements to ensure enterprise-wide compliance
  • Partner with supply chain, logistics, finance, legal, and purchasing teams to manage risk, strengthen compliance controls, and support strategic business objectives
  • Oversee trade compliance audits, product classifications, and regulatory interactions to maintain strong compliance controls
  • Identify and implement duty savings, process improvements, and trade optimization opportunities that reduce costs and enhance operational performance

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in international trade or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five or more years of industry-related trade compliance experience
  • In-depth knowledge of international trade and customs compliance
  • Experience developing and implementing policies and procedures
  • Working knowledge of the Modernization Act, Export Administration Regulations (EAR), United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), and International Commercial Terms (Incoterms)
  • Proficiency with Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Schedule B, and Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) product classification
  • Working knowledge of the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE)
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex trade agreements and notices from government agencies
  • Strong negotiation, planning, organization, and execution skills
  • Ability to influence others, build consensus, and gain member buy-in
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, and Word
  • Ability to travel up to 20%

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams with or without direct reports
  • Master's degree in business administration
  • Licensed Customs Broker certification
  • Experience with Manage 2000
  • Hearth industry product experience
