Texas Water Practice Leader

YOUR OPPORTUNITY

Our US South Water business is rapidly growing, and we are seeking a Practice Leader to support the future growth and development of our Texas Water business, with a primary focus on expanding Stantec's municipal and state water markets across Texas. Reporting to the Regional Growth Leader, this senior-level position will use industry knowledge, client relationships, and market expertise to help set the vision and strategic direction for our Texas Water business. The role involves identifying, developing, pursuing, and winning projects with new and existing municipal and state agency clients, while working collaboratively with Stantec's federal and industrial Practice Leaders to align market strategies, leverage technical expertise, and pursue integrated growth opportunities. The successful candidate will bring strong leadership and communication skills, market knowledge, business acumen, and a successful history of client relations and account management. Key growth areas include opportunities presented by flood risk reduction, coastal restoration, water supply, water treatment, wastewater treatment, conveyance, and stormwater projects of varying size and complexity, with coordination across adjacent federal and industrial water opportunities where appropriate.

The Texas Water Practice Leader can be based within any Water office throughout Texas and should be readily able to travel to other locations easily.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Pursue a growth agenda
  • Identify growth opportunities for the Texas Water business, with an emphasis on municipal and state water clients, including acquisition targets and organic growth strategies, in alignment with Stantec's Strategic Plan.
  • Maintain awareness of both the external and internal competitive landscape, opportunities for expansion, customers, markets, and new industry developments, technologies, and standards. Be aware of any opportunities the team can leverage and pursue for its advantage and/or improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate to consistently win new work within the Water business line, including close coordination with federal and industrial Practice Leaders and in concert with Stantec's other business lines.
  • Develop and manage the Texas marketing and business development plan for municipal and state water markets. Ensure that the Opportunity Pipeline is accurate, current, and coordinated with related federal and industrial water opportunities.
  • Lead and implement business development strategies for key municipal and state water clients and strategic pursuits, including participation in market and business development meetings, client relations, and key account management responsibilities, while coordinating with federal and industrial Practice Leaders on overlapping clients, capabilities, and pursuits.

Strategy & Planning
  • Contribute to the development of our regional business strategy with a focus on growing municipal and state water markets in Texas, while supporting alignment across federal, industrial, and other key Water sectors.
  • Development of an annual business plan and accountability to the execution of strategic initiatives.

Drive business performance
  • Sustaining and growing revenue within our primary business sectors to achieve top line growth.
  • Pursue and lead strategic pursuits in the Texas geography, particularly for municipal and state water clients, in collaboration with federal and industrial Practice Leaders where shared capabilities or client needs create integrated opportunities.
  • Project delivery oversight of complex water projects.

Provide wider leadership influence
  • Talent recruitment, development, and mentoring.
  • Ability to travel as needed to fill role responsibilities.
  • Promoting a strong culture of health and safety.
  • Leadership and involvement in related industry organizations and professional societies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Strong Texas municipal and state water market knowledge and demonstrated account management performance.
  • Strong business development skills with an entrepreneurial orientation, including experience developing and maintaining productive relationships with a client base.
  • Successful experience in responding to Requests for Qualifications, Requests for Proposals and Statements of Qualifications.
  • Strong leadership, team building and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex water projects with an emphasis on technical and project delivery excellence.
  • Passion for water related projects.
  • United States Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Prior to employment, this position will require the successful passing of a pre-employment physical and drug screen.

Education and Experience

BS in a professional discipline with at least 15 years of professional experience in related fields.

Licensed professional engineer, preferrable.

Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
