DescriptionThe Terminal Manager reports directly to the Vitus Terminals General Manager and is responsible for the profitable and efficient operations of Vitus' Bethel operations. The Terminal Manager position requires a combination of skills and licensing necessary to lead the day-to-day operations, which include local fuel deliveries, tank farm operations, and a convenience store. This hands-on position requires someone with a State of AK Class A Commercial Driver License with an X endorsement (or has the ability to obtain), strong people skills, experience with fuel terminal business activities, and a desire to provide a high level of customer focused service.
The ideal candidate lives in Bethel, has a mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform routine equipment maintenance, the ability to successfully lead and direct staff, as well as basic proficiency with Microsoft Office; Outlook, Excel and Word. A successful candidate is self-motivated and possesses a strong mentality of taking ownership for things they are accountable for. Relocation is available for the right candidate.
Essential Job Functions:- Observes and complies with all company safety policies and procedures
- Performs the job duties safely and sensibly in accordance with all company policies and procedures and state and federal regulations
- Recruits and facilitates hiring personnel as required to accomplish terminal goals
- Safely operates the Bethel tank farm in accordance with company policy and applicable regulations
- Safely directs and/or participates in local fuel deliveries
- Supervises all terminal personnel to maximize operational efficiency and safely deliver quality goods and services, in accordance with all company policies and procedures and state and federal regulations that duties are performed as defined
- Communicates as necessary via standards forms and processes to maintain reconciliations and accountability for business unit operations
- Facilitates local administrative requirements, including turning in fuel and packaged goods inventories, packaged goods ordering, scheduling of terminal employees, and other related duties
- Acts as local representative for all Vitus entities, including vessel activity during the summer season
- Periodically monitors Vitus vessels wintered in Bethel as required or requested by Anchorage staff
- Performs or manages the general maintenance needs of the terminal and equipment
Other Job Responsibilities:Minimum Qualifications: - High school diploma, or equivalent
- Five (5) years of related experience and/or training
- State of AK Class A CDL with X endorsement, highly preferred
- Fuel Terminal Management experience, preferred

Education:- High school diploma, or equivalent
Required Training & Certificates:- State of AK Class B CDL with X endorsement, preferred
- Attends training sessions, seminars and appropriate educational classes required by department.
- Computer skills commensurate with program and job applications.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud, and may require the use of ear protection. Work is usually done out-of-doors, sometimes in extreme weather conditions, requiring the use of personal protective equipment to include, but not limited to; a reflective vest, steel toed boots, safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection. The position supervises non-exempt, and contracted staff. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicles and equipment.
